I love that faculty here are focused on teaching students, but unsure about research opportunities available to current students. Question for current students: do medical students here typically do research? If so, is it off campus? Is it difficult to find research if you're interested?

Found a link to this on their website (also posted on p5 of this thread):

Not current student, but supposedly most students that are interested in research have found stuff to do at Yale down the road.

Has anyone who interviewed early/ mid November heard back?

A portion of my class does do research in addition to their capstone project. Quite a few people will do summer research projects with one of our clinical partners (e.g. St. Francis or St. Vincent's), at Yale, with mentors back home, etc. I wouldn't say it's the majority of students, but it's a significant portion. If you're interested in research, older students and our faculty are more than happy to help you find opportunities, and in general I think people who are interested in research find opportunities that suit them.

Would you mind sharing your stats, Yanksboi?

In regards to all 3, first of all, congrats! Did you guys send in any letter of interest/updates since completion? I have been complete since late July as well and this is one of my top 3, so any advice would be appreciated! 🙂
Thanks! I didn't send any updates, but if I would have if I didn't hear back today. I have sent updates to other schools.

II this morning, complete since July and have not sent any updates.
What is the post-II acceptance rate here?
Will more interview days become available in the portal soon? I can't make any of the three listed.

what days do they show? Mine also only had 3 but were ~ a month out

I would be so grateful if someone who has interviewed here recently could describe the experience for me! I interview 2 weeks from today and I am hoping to get a better feel for what to expect.

I have mine in about 10 days as well, just curious but does each interviewer ask the same questions since there are 2 faculty interviews? Or were both completely different? Thanks!

more or less similar... my first one was very conversational, he only asked like 2 or 3 questions, when'd you decide on medicine? why quinnipiac? that kinda stuff.. the second one I had w/ an M2 it was a bit more interview like, she asked more questions but they were typical interview questions againt why medicine, why QU, some about my experiences... that was my personal experience

sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have an interview here next week and had a quick question about an update. I have a recently published second author review article in a book very similar to this Micro-, Meso- and Macro-Dynamics of the Brain | Springer for Research & Development . Same publisher etc. just different topic/field related to medicine.

Should I update this on the portal? I sent an update in Sept about new volunteering etc. and forgot to put this on. For what its worth, I already have a first author pub and 3000+hrs of research including full time job.

I was considering "verbally" updating this during my interview if it was discussed. I also have another second author review that will be published sometime in January but I don't have enough info right now to add it into the update.

Should I update this on the portal, verbally do it, or not at all? The only reason I'm wary of discussing in person is that I don't want to come off as "research overload" since this is not the focus of the school and its my only II

Thanks!

I'd go ahead and update. It's an accomplishment!

Hi! Can somebody who interviewed here let me know what time the interview was finished. I'm trying to make travel plans. I appreciate the help!

Do acceptance decision normally go out Wed/ friday morning? Had an interview about a month ago and still haven't heard

Does anyone know what the expected class size is? I know it's been hovering around 90-100 in past years but I know I've seen that they plan on reaching 125 per class eventually (at least I read that from a news article when it recently opened), maybe that's why someone said 2/3 are accepted outright because the class size is also growing larger?

I think they are expecting a little over 100 but not as large as 125

They will matriculate 94 students.

My cohort finished around 5:15PM

To any current students- I was recently accepted and was wondering about your experiences with driving to the various clinical sites. I really enjoyed the interview day and find the match list super impressive, but have a lot of reservations because of the seemingly funky clinical arrangements. Do you feel this impedes you in any way? Also, do you enjoy living in New Haven? Would particularly enjoy hearing the perspective of someone from So Cal for that q. Thanks!

Got rejected post II on 12/1. My interview day was the 11/17. Pretty bummed about it since I really liked the school all well

First of all, congratulations!

I'm an M2 so I haven't started clinical rotations yet, but my understanding is that driving to the various clinical sites is sometimes inconvenient but not problematic. Many older students have told me that the variation in clinical sites also gives Netter students a high degree of flexibility and adaptability, a valuable skill that you wouldn't necessarily have if you stayed within one hospital system and one EHR all the time.

As for living in New Haven, many people do and they love it. You can also live in Wallingford, Hamden, or North Haven itself, all of which tend to be cheaper and quieter. It depends on what kind of home environment you want to have; all of these places are 10-15 minutes from campus and from each other, so access is not a problem. Your average distance to clinical sites will be roughly the same as well, so I wouldn't choose a place to live based on proximity to clinical sites (some sites are north of here, some are south).

Does anyone know if there's a Facebook page for accepted students yet?

So sorry to hear that... 🙁 did your interviews go well?

I thought so but I’m assuming I was a borderline candidate since they rejected me so quickly it seems. I’m good tho I’m at least going somewhere next year.

Thanks so much for taking the time! Would you say you are happy overall with Netter? Any issues?
I couldn't find many, aside from the driving requirement. Everyone I met seemed really happy and I'm excited for the opportunity!

This is a bit early to be asking but are stethoscopes given during white coat?
