ii for buffalo next month, wasn't strongly considering the school until I read about the new campus and high preponderance of scholarships... has anyone seen the new campus yet?

Please explain the scholarship thing. I recently received an acceptance here but did not hear anything about a scholarship.

Has anyone else here interviewed for the MD/PhD program? Any idea on when we're supposed to hear back?

I did! I interviewed back in mid November and was told that the next MD/PhD committee meeting wasn't scheduled until early December. I was told not to expect any word until mid-December at earliest. So fingers crossed to hear something next week!

Hmm, I don't recall getting anything with my acceptance letter. If I recall correctly, all I received was one page telling me about the acceptance and to keep an eye out for some emails. And then got some emails with healthforms and things to sign.
I received an email about a 20K scholarship that you had to apply for. If i remember correctly, only 5 students received this scholarship. Haven't heard anything else about scholarships.

Has anybody toured the new campus yet? Thinking about going there in Feb for a second look and to tour the new campus.

Does anyone who has this school very high on their list care to share the reasons why? To be completely honest, one of the main reasons I applied here is because it is one of my 4 state schools. I know they have a new campus opening up which looks beautiful, and aside from the plenty merit scholarships, I don't know too much about the school. I am trying to do my research right now but am having some hard luck finding anything substantial.

This is one of my top schools because I'm from Western NY and would like to stay here after graduation so medschool in Buffalo would probably prepare me best to do that. Also, the resources/clinical exposure and entertainment options of a big city are appealing, at least while I'm in school.

oh thank god i read this before i sent it, ill call the admissions office tommorow and report back!
"CANDIDATE UPDATES, RECOMMENDATIONS, GRADE REPORTS & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION sent DIRECTLY to us by email or by US mail are ONLY used if the candidate is invited for an interview. THOSE UPDATES ARE NOT USED DURING THE INITIAL REVIEW PROCESS TO DETERMINE WHO IS INVITED FOR AN INTERVIEW! We ONLY use the AMCAS material. Therefore, DO NOT send us update material until after you are invited for an interview. (if you are invited)"

This was on the secondary email... but still would like to know waht the admissions dept says. I'd love to send some updates!!

I interviewed in October. Hopefully we'll hear something this week.

I understand that they make post-interview decisions literally within a day, but do the interviewers accept thank you emails? If so, did any of you send them directly to the admissions office or to the interviewers' emails? Or is it really just not worth it/not allowed?

Not sure if it's not allowed, but I sent mine directly to my interviewers.

I interviewed in September for the MD/PhD program and still haven't heard anything. Does anyone know when their interview season ends and if they do rolling admissions?

It looks like in previous years the MD/PhD program interviews into March. I was under the impression that they did rolling admissions, but maybe not...

Yeah I thought I would have heard something, even just a “waitlist” by now. I can’t believe some of us have been waiting since September. I’m assuming we are all already accepted into the medical school right?

I know I'm surprised we haven't heard anything, but yes I received my acceptance for the MD only program in October.

II yesterday - complete early July; IS.

Question for those who have already interviewed: does the day really wrap up around 5 or could I expect to leave earlier? I am currently living out of state and the last flight out is 5:30.

I think I remember mine ending around 4pm. They do ask the interviewees if they have an early flight out so that they can accommodate you better in terms of interview time.
