2017-2018 University of Kentucky

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
In the grand scheme of things, its still pretty early.

I received acknowledgement of receipt of my primary on August 15th but I haven't gotten a secondary yet. Does this mean I have been screened out?

OOS neighboring, Secondary complete 9/19, Sent for screening 9/19, Interview to be scheduled - Morehead 9/27, Received letter at permanent address on 9/29 (letter dated 9/26) with interview date. RPLP. I'd love any advice/insight from students who interviewed @ Morehead for RPLP.

I interviewed at Bowling green not morehead, but it was very relaxed. I definitely got the typical Why medicine, why now, why here questions. The rest of my interview questions were basically based around what was in my application and how I was prepared to take on the stress of medical school and practicing. Good luck to you!!!! If you want any more specific info you can message me

I heard from a good source that they are looking into the trends of high mcat and medical school performance. They have brought their average mcat up every single year with little return. At the end of the day, UK is still a state school with a goal of creating Kentucky doctors. I thi k that they have done a poor job in the past recruitng students that at more likely to stay.

With that being said, i heard that thwy will begin screening for instate at a 504 and oos 511-512. The new campus thing is very interesting because it seems to me that your first choice on your secondary is the only school you will be considered at unless you are waitlisted.

So,

Student A applies to RPLP with a 3.8 506 mcat and student B applies to Main Campus with 3.8 511 MCAT. Student A gets accepted. Student B is rejected and doent have the oppertunity to apply to the other campuses.

this is not exactly the case. if a student is put in what is essentially the waitlist pile, they will have a chance to re-rank in the spring. at this point, the other two campuses may choose to interview a student who Lexington did not accept, but who did not out right reject. whatever campus you put as #1 choice will get your app for screening. they can choose to interview you, reject you, or leave you on hold basically. if you are outright rejected, then obviously the other campuses cannot consider you. but if the campus you choose thinks you may still be a good fit for one of the other programs, just not their site, then they may leave you on hold, and then the other campuses have the choice to interview you if their site is not full.

That is pretty much what i said. Notice i said rejected, not waitlisted. If someone is rejected from main, they have no other oppertunities at the other campuses that they may have stood a better chance at.

Yeah I am with you. I just wanted to give some clarification if people were confused.

For those who have interviewed already, has your status changed or does it still say "Interview(s) Complete"? I know we aren't going to hear anything until the 15th or 16th, just looking for hints to see where they're leaning!

Mine hasn’t changed and I was early decision.

And you already have your decision or no?

From what I have read from last years thread it seemed like if it changed to "Admissions committee decision complete", that was a positive thing.

Yes, when you are early decision UK had to give us their decision by oct 1st.

Yup! Hope everyone else has great interviews.
I suppose we should be hearing some happy acceptances from the first rounders ... hopefully that will bring some excitement to the thread lol

Heading to Lexington for first time in my life today!
The Sunday meeting is at um, a horse race? On the email she says attire is 'college prep' dress/ sundress and slacks and button up? Any more insights to this? I'll gladly wear a sundress but like is that really appropriate

Keeneland? As a Lex native, definitely look classy...I would stray away from a sundress (depending how dressy it is) and go with a nicer dress instead
Thanks! Yes Keeneland! What about the hat? My stepdad heard 'derby' and said I NEED the hat. Will I be the odd one out or is this definitely a staple?
I think I definitely have a 'classy' sundress - can I send you a picture of my ensemble?

For the early decision people, did they call or email you to notify you of their decision?
