Rejected. It's a blood bath out here

Rejected. Pretty disappointed since I interviewed here last year and had the worst luck possible that day. I was hoping to make up for that this year.

Rejected by email. I initially saw the message and smiled and thought it was an II, and keep reading looking for a point to the email. This email was like a bad "its not you, it's me" breakup.

First rejection! Complete 7/12. Good luck everyone else 🙂

This is making me so nervous haha! Still no update to my account/no rejection, but applied MSTP mid July. Guess no news is good news?

Rejected today as well. Good luck to everyone else! Wishing you all the best.

I never thought I'd see a rejection wave this big and with this many seemingly extremely qualified people...

Was complete like 8/30 I can only imagine my time is coming too...

I was complete 8/3 and feel like that part in the horror movie when the killer is standing right behind you but you don't wanna look.

Per some of the admissions committee, Pitt already has more applicants than all of last year, and there's still a lot of time to apply. Might explain why they just rejected a ton of people. Think people are figuring what a gem Pitt is.

Or med admissions is getting ridiculous. We are lucky to not be applying 5 yrs from now.

I mean, with 7,000+ applicants for a 148 person class they have to reject people at some point. It is tough, but getting into medical school shouldn't be easy in my opinion. It certainly doesn't get any easier once you're in. I do wish all of you the best of luck though! I will restate that if you have any questions about the program or interview, I'd be happy to answer them. 🙂

Rejected without interview on 9/7. Received secondary on 7/7, submitted on 7/14, and never received a notification that I was complete.

LizzyM ~70 and out of state.

Good luck applicants!

Any idea what the post II accept rate is? It seems like they interview a ton for 148 spots which is unnerving

I've seen 46%, which would be super encouraging if true. From reading old threads, it seems like the outright acceptance rate might not be the highest, but that a significant number get pulled off the waitlist -- which I think is pretty common.

They said at my interview day that they are already projected to have 800-1000 applications more than last year.

Well, the MSAR said they interviewed like 800 people last year. I'd like to believe that since 1/3 of the people they interviewed that were instate matriculated that 33-45% instate acceptance rate exists.

At my interview they said that last year they offered acceptance to 370 of the 800 or so interviewed applicants. It sounds like they emptied their waitlist, since they also said their class was 147 this year instead of 148. So if that is any indication, about 46% overall acceptance after interview seems about right.

Thanks guys, super encouraging!
If you go strictly based on the US news and world data, they're outright acceptance for all interviewed applicants is right around 42%.
I interviewed there recently and one of the adcoms said that the entire application cycle last year they had around 6100 applications but as of last as of the last week they've already received 6200. But no intention of increasing the number of applicants they interview or their class size. I don't know about the wait list but I would guess you could expect that overall percentage to be similar.
Awesome school, by the way. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming - including the faculty - and they are currently remodeling some of the student areas and are supposed to finish in December.

Without a doubt my top choice, crazy that I considered this a reach school and they invited me before I even heard from my safeties. I heard from one other school so far and it was an II....But the silence from the others is unnerving but it won't matter if Pitt accepts me I am in lol.

That's awesome, man. Congrats! I feel similarly - I've gotten minimal love from my in state institutions (Texas resident) - just one other interview. I was ecstatic to get a II from Pitt and even more excited after interview day. It was such a good experience. Hope yours goes well if it hasn't happened already
