Interesting. What did your reviewer mention?

It's that either the committee will reach an immediate decision, acceptance or rejection, or the file will be deliberated longer. So, my guess is those that got acceptances like 3 weeks ago were the ones with immediate decisions which means there might have been a rejected list. While the rest of us are still in review.

I'm a traditional applicant, waiting since October 16th. Also know for a fact that someone in my interview group got an acceptance from them awhile ago so that's reassuring..

I'm a traditional applicant and was accepted a couple weeks ago when Downstate released decisions. I don't think that fall semester grades would have made much of an impact on how long it takes for them to make a decision. They're most likely still deciding on your general application if you have not heard back yet. Hopefully good news for you all soon!

So now I'm thinking that interviews during Aug-Nov, should get decision "early February", while Dec-later will hear mid spring?

There seems to be a two-tiered process for the waves. Phase I, the committee reviews the apps and decides accept, reject, or hold for later. The folks who get held get the "expect to hear from us never lol" emails, and are reviewed secondarily in Phase II. From my understanding, we're in a weird limbo where people held from the fall are waiting to hear back from the secondary review at the same time as people from January being outright accepted from their primary review. Or I'm just going literally insane.

You can probably blame that on this year's new AAMC's policy changes. I've noticed that a decent number of schools' application cycles have gone crazy this year (or atleast some admission offices have drastically changed up their process this year).

I agree this sounds sorta right but then you think the late Jan/early feb email was just entirely inaccurate? And their response to your phone call haha

Just spoke to admissions, she said nothing has gone out yet this week and that the best thing we can do is wait for an email from the SOM.

For reference, I interviewed in mid-October and received the Late Jan/Early Feb email.
