While still waiting for my II, when I check my portal, I have 3 green check marks, app submit, fee paid, LOR received. Pretty much all other schools have app complete check, but I don't have it here. Now I am wondering if my app is actually complete, how is your portal looks before II? Thanks.

I checked and they said as long as you have the three check marks your application is complete. They don't send an email or have a separate "application complete check mark"

Rejected pre-II just now.

Although they lost points for sending out rejections today, of all days!

Good luck to everyone still in the running here!

Rejected today, pre-II and IS. edit: Complete 8/2
Is this a bad sign for my application to be rejected pre-II as an IS applicant? LM 71

Rejected today, pre-II and IS. Feeling pretty bummed/anxious that I got rejected already from my only state-school.

Had one II already from a private MD school OOS so was feeling optimistic but this has made me a lot more anxious about my chances.

I'm so sorry 🙁 When were you complete?

When's the first wave of acceptances? Interviewed 10/3 and I don't remember when they said we'd hear back.

Waitlisted, high stats, in state.

Very shocked as my interviewers explicitly told me that I was a wonderful candidate and hoped to see me next year.

Does Maryland yield protect / take ppl off the waitlist???

What are your stats? Above the school's 90th percentile?

Hey, I'm really sorry. That sucks. You've probably already heard this today, and I'm just another applicant so what do I know, but I don't think this says anything bad about your app. This process is a crapshoot. MSAR says they only interview like 1/3 of IS applicants. Inevitably that means they're turning away great people. You've already had an interview, which is AWESOME for your chances! I've only had one II and realizing how lucky I am. So many people will wait until Dec or Jan before their first II. If you've already interviewed, someone saw something excellent in your app. Good luck!

hey guys. I am in-state and was complete on 8/6 and still havent heard anything. How concerned should I be?

On interview day the dean said they prefer to interview "local" candidates first, so take that FWIW if you're in-state and waiting to hear back. Likewise for OOS. I got my II just under two weeks after I was marked complete and also was complete in early Aug. At the same time, judging from past threads, Maryland is very unpredictable so don't count yourself out!

Same here on all points (again, fwiw).

congrats on your acceptances here! i'm a first year medical student at UMSOM -- let me know if you have any questions! i've been answering questions for people via PM but feel free to post on the forum as well. i was deciding among several med schools and picked here so if you have a hard time deciding or something, let me know!

Also, on my admissions letter it says I was classified as Out of State for admissions but am very much In-state and just had not submitted the Residency Form yet. I am not sure if it makes a difference, but if you are in-state and waiting to hear it might be useful to submit that Residency form just in case.

ACCEPTED!! IS, interviewed 9/17

I also had a residency issue and called the bursar, they actually said whatever your address is on AMCAS + if you check "MD resident" on the secondary determines your residency status for admissions decision purposes. The residency status they decide from your Residency Form only determines residency for tuition purposes. (e.g. I'm very much in-state and was classified IS for admissions but OOS for tuition as of now bc my parents moved to another state, even though I'm independent of them)

Hey guys,
I applied to Maryland on August 8th and have not heard back from them. Meanwhile applicants who have applied after me have been rejected and even offered interviews. Does anyone know what's up? In-state; MCAT: 516; sGPA: 3.53. Does Maryland review applicants with relatively higher stats first?

I wish I knew the answer to that question bud. I'm in-state, applied disadvantaged, white male with 3.93sGPA and 522 MCAT and I've heard nothing. Honestly I have only seen I believe 3-4 interview invites on this thread to people complete later than us, so my best guess would be that we are in that time frame where our application has been reviewed by some but not all of the people who are required to review it. I anticipate that we will hear back soon, and FWIW there were numerous applicants who interviewed and were accepted after Thanksgiving last year despite being complete as early as mid-July. If you're anything like me, your high MCAT score is (ironically) what has you worried because you would have expected more bites, but after voicing my concerns to several very well-informed people, I've come to the conclusion that there is truly no point in trying to make sense of this process, and there are tons of factors that go into who gets reviewed/interviewed first, many of which have very little to do with how qualified you are as an applicant/your likelihood of being interviewed/accepted. So hang in there and just hold onto the fact that you haven't been rejected yet. That's what I'm doing.
