Are you sure? There seemed to be an amount comparable to April's WL movement on last year's thread? In each year, there has been quite a bit of movement in April after the last March interview dates.

One of the admissions people on my interview day said there was only a single list with everyone on it, including a score given by the committee. Then only the top 20 people on the list get accepted on every acceptance day.

Do either of you remember when they said when we'd get the email about the acceptance? I was too overwhelmed and forgot lol

I was just told that I would get an e-mail. Wasn't told when and was too excited to ask haha but I would assume sometime today or tomorrow

Anybody have any success stories about getting in off the alternate list late in the cycle/after being on it for a significant amount of time?

I interviewed late November, sent letter of intent immediately following interview bc I already had acceptances but really loved the school, alternate listed 1/16.....nothing so far.

I know it's a master list with top 20 taken every time and my stats are low so who knows. I'm thinking letter of intent pre-initial decision may have hurt my chances....just getting demoralized to keep getting passed over when I really loved this school. Any thoughts or advice?

For what it's worth i think interview went very well got alone great with interviewer.

I have heard of people getting accepted even in the summer at some places. Don’t lose hope. I know it’s hard. Also, I don’t see how a letter of intent could have hurt your chances. I hope to hear some good news from you soon!

How much waitlist movement was there actually? The MSAR data for some reason is wrong. Also the OOS post interview acceptance rate on US news last year was 70%+. I’m sure that accounts for waitlist movement too, but that seems a bit too high. I will say the year before that, it was slightly over 50%.

Bump

How long after acceptance does financial aid info come out?

Also, how exactly are we supposed to accept the offer/reserve our seat in the class? The email said we need to “write back and accept the position” but do we do that just via email or wait for the physical letter in the mail?

How much longer is UMiami still interviewing? I haven't been scored yet, but i know not everyone is scored before II

I emailed Dean Weisman directly to accept the position. He confirmed my response 6 minutes later.

1. Based on last year thread, financial aid comes out end of march, beginning of april
2. Email back admissions office and just say you would like to reserve seat. You will receive email (1-2 weeks) after with caneid link where you can submit deposit (but its not due till later).

I just found where to pay the deposit... does anyone know if paying for it is binding? Or do I just have to pay for it to hold my seat in the class? If so, when is the date it has to be paid by?

I think the deposit for UM is not refundable, so don't pay it yet unless you're sure you're going there. I was like TF when I saw that, but they have an extended deadline for paying the deposit. I think it's in May or June.

Thanks! Do you know if we have to pay it to get merit based or financial aid scholarships?

Alternate list folks: is anyone expecting any list movement before the next "acceptance day" at the end of March? One month seems like a long time for them to not accept anyone new. Does anyone know if they've gone "off schedule" and issued acceptances in between ADs in previous years?

On my late feb interview, the admins informed us that the soonest we'd hear back is March 27th since the committee usually met every other week but because of match week in the middle of March, they are skipping over that week.

I got the 2nd look email as well, it’s from Thursday the 11th to the 13th of April. Does anyone know if we have to attend every day?

Link is also not working for me. When searching the group it doesn’t appear to exist so maybe it was made and taken down or put on private and not taken off

I thought it was because I use a different email address for Facebook so it isn't "linking" to my profile.

Sure enough I had another facebook account that the email was linked to, but I haven’t used that account in 10+ years since high school. So I had to reactivate that account.... OMG the cringe. I can’t believe some of the status updates and pictures I used back then. Luckily I was able to invite my current account and delete the old one again... it would have been embarrassing if anyone saw my old profile LOL

Does anyone know if it's common/acceptable/allowed to bring parents to second look?

I'm pretty sure it's allowed, but discouraged at most places. In my view, you're going to second look not just to get to know the school and the program, but also to get a feel for what studying with your classmates/living in Miami will be like. It'll be hard for you to gauge that while your parents are right there with you. I would absolutely bring them to your white coat ceremony or commencement, but not second look.

Alternatively, you can go to the activities alone and then meet with your parents in between/after. In the meantime they can explore campus on their own.

Im awaiting a decision on the 27th this month, this is my top choice school and i have offers at other places. Would it be a good idea to send a letter of intent?
