Ooo, you're the first to announce!
Haha yeah I got it around 8 PM! That took me off guard. I figured that news usually came in the morning. Then again I had gotten the II around noon. So any time is fair game, I guess.

Hello! I am an OMS-II at UIWSOM. Feel free to ask any questions and good luck this application cycle!

what would you say to someone who is adamant about attending UIWSOM due to them being in a pre accreditation phase. Also do you think so far the school has prepared you well for boards?

I would say UIWSOM is a great school and I have enjoyed my time here. However, if you have other more well-established options then I would consider attending those schools with a history of great board scores (if that’s most important to you). The school has also been accommodating and understanding to any feedback we have provided.

Just like any school I feel as if board scores are more representative of the individual student and not the school. However, I believe that the curriculum is set up in a way to retain important information rather than pump and dump. Additionally, we get out of class at 12:00pm every day and have plenty of time to study for class and fit in some board studying time.

What do you like most about this school? How do well do you feel their curriculum is preparing you for boards? Thanks!

Does anyone know the post-interview acceptance rate? Seems like there are a lot of acceptances

remember that not everyone who is accepted will eventually end up at a given school, as applicants apply many places.

I like that there is a collaborative atmosphere that the school has fostered. Everyone is willing to help each other out. I also appreciate the curriculum because we are able to have a lot of freedom to schedule the majority of our day.

The curriculum seems to be covering a lot of “high yield” material for boards and we continuously revisit old material throughout each unit. Additionally, I feel like I retain information better in the style of curriculum that we have where the student is in charge of their own learning. However, it was a large adjustment coming from collete where you are spoonfed all of the information.

For the letters of rec, it says they require committee AND science rec? Did anyone have any luck if they didn't use their school committee? I will only have 2 science letters and I'm not sure if I qualify as nontrad (graduated spring 2017 with a postbacc 2017-2018)

I also did a post bacc and submitted to science letters. You should still submit it, they don't seem like sticklers about that sort of thing.

For those that received an II, what was the turnaround time from secondary app submission and II? Thanks in advance!

Have any other accepted students heard about scholarships or does anyone know when we might hear?

I'm an OMS I and I received a UIWSOM mission scholarship. That was 10K for the first year. You don't have to do anything to be entered for that, they go off your essays for selection. As far as I know, that is the only one the school itself offers. They do have a whole page on scholarships that I linked below. Also, there are a few folks who received the military HPSP (I can provide info on that if you need it). Both that and the NHSC scholarships are good opportunities to look into.

So since they go off of your essays and you don't need to do anything for the scholarship, how and when will they notify someone if they receive the scholarship or not? please and thank you

I believe it was around May/June when I was notified, so a couple of months before school started. I received an email saying I as selected for it based on my essays and to reply yes that I wanted it. Not sure how many are given out or when they stop giving them out.

Does anyone who interviewed on 8/18 have a rough guess as to how many people were there that day?

Submitted 7/11/18, Completed email 7/16/18, Invite to Interview 8/3/18

The information on the link implies that we'd be eligible for Federal loans but when I was at the interview, they made no mention of this. Can you confirm if this is indeed the case?

They did bring it up during my interview on 9/7. The information they presented showed both unsub Stafford loans and Grad PLUS loans on the slide deck. I'm not sure if it was in the documentation they gave out or not.

Accepted just now! I have some choices to make now lol. It’s a good problem to have though! Good luck to all of you
