Regular admission is what I mean to say....No special programs (fmSTAT, CERT, etc.)
 
I've been complete since 7/6 and still have the "The Sub-Committee will now do a review of your application" status. Really hoping that's not a bad thing... 🙁

that just means they're still reviewing, i wouldn't take it as a hold until its "Sub committee has reviewed application" or something like that

If it helps anyone, there were still August dates open for interviews, so I don't think they have given too many out yet. Also, my portal had the "committee will do a review of your application" up until I got the interview message.

So I'm assuming you received an email saying your status had changed and when you looked you saw your II? Congrats btw! 🙂

Yep, exactly. I assume that means that they gave me an interview on first review of my application. I bet if you still have the "committee will review" message it means they haven't looked at yours yet. I wouldn't worry, they probably don't look at them in order. I guess they have a 'get all the July ones done first' approach
 
I'm wondering if they go over them several times. Some people were rejected very quickly after submission (very qualified applicants too). If it was a stand-out app maybe they just offer the II right then and there. For the rest of us, it looks like we are making their initial post-secondary screens but not quite to interview yet. Just a theory.
 
Applied regular MD, CERT student. On my application, I was deciding whether or not to apply fmSTAT and somehow ended up being not able to deselect the "yes" button for fmSTAT no matter how many times I saved/refreshed. I left the essay sections blank for fmSTAT - on the supplemental instructions page it said not to leave anything blank or they will not process your application. Hopefully they assume that I decided not to pursue fmSTAT - any comment? @Dean Mission

Ok, this is me being stupid but I didn't print my secondary when it prompted me to. Is there a way to print it still? I can't find it...I mean I have my draft saved somewhere else but in my secondary applications anxiety mode I'd like to check my app again lol.
 
Does anyone know how many secondaries VCU sends out during a typical cycle?
 
OOS and received a secondary. Was wondering if you guys thought it would be too late to submit it? I know II's are already rolling out and I didn't want to pay to submit it if I didnt have a chance.

If you've received a secondary from them then you have a chance! They screen fairly heavily so it's definitely worth a shot if you'd like to go there. Apparently the rule of thumb is you aren't late with secondaries until after labor day.
 
checked my portal today to find a new message saying my application may be put on hold for new MCAT/grades. I did not indicate anywhere that I'm re-taking the MCAT nor am I currently enrolled in any academic program. At the top I still have the message saying "Your MD file is complete, sub-committee will now do a review." Anyone else experience anything like this? @Dean Mission should I contact the admissions office? I don't want any unnecessary delays.

That's just a general message nothing to be concerned about. I have it too.
 
I heard that this school gives interviews out in waves with some trickles here and there. Wondering if that's true now...

Did you get the standard email then portal change? CERT/fmSTAT/Early Decision/regular admission? Based on stats you ARE me, so excuse my piquing curiosity...are you a traditional applicant?
 
A little late to the party but submitted a primary application to VCU yesterday. Anyone know how long they take to "screen" before sending out secondaries? I know the initial screen here is pretty rigorous compared to most schools.

Also, I heard somewhere that VCU looks at NC residents in a favorable manner compared to other OOS applicants?
