I occasionally get an error message the first time I try logging on, but it always works the second time.Anyone else unable to log into the online portal?
That did the trick. Thanks for the help!I occasionally get an error message the first time I try logging on, but it always works the second time.
Yay! It’s a basic stats screen plus an unspecified amount of volunteering from what I gotJust received confirmation that my primary application was received by VCU and that I was granted a secondary!
Hopefully that means that I have no major red flags on my application assuming that the secondary screen is significant?
Really struggling with the VCU secondary question. Been sitting on it for about a week, and I still do not know how to best approach the secondary question. Does anyone have any advice to offer?
What does the question say exactly?Does anybody know if I just graduated college and am applying to medical school, do I need to answer the second essay question asking about gaps in education?
I just called the office and they said to leave it blank or put N/A. I dont have the exact question anymore but it said something along the lines of did you have any gaps in your undergraduate education or between graduation and applying to medical school, if so please explain why, etc. What does the question say exactly?
Regardless, I would say put in what you are doing this year, especially if it's clinical or medical related.
Is CASper required for completion? I just received a complete email and my app is under review but my CASper is not there yet at least from what the CASper website says
Rejected. OOS. 512 MCAT 3.7 GPA.
+1 would love insight into VCU's MMI formatFirst II today!
Pretty pumped since this is one of my top choices. If any current students have tips for the MMI format at VCU or specific advice on preparing that would be greatly appreciated!
In-state. LizzyM 70. Submitted 7/16. Regular MD.
MD/PhD interviewees undergo a slightly different review process that overlaps with the general admissions pool, but which is program-specific in how it is administrated. Interview invites are ongoing for this program currently.@Dean Mission Have you started sending out MD/PhD interview invites? If not, when is the first wave expected? Thank you!
Rejected today after submitting my application yesterday. OOS.
Oh no 🙁. I am sure you will have better luck with other great schools though!
Was this submitting your secondary or primary?
Woah what! I can’t tell if that means they’ve reviewed all the apps up until tomorrow or this was the result of an auto screenRejected today after submitting my application yesterday. OOS.
Yeah, I was quite surprised myself. I was expecting a rejection, but this was much sooner than I had thought.Woah what! I can’t tell if that means they’ve reviewed all the apps up until tomorrow or this was the result of an auto screen
Either way, good luck with the rest of your cycle man!

Thank you so much!

Got the 'Subcommittee will do a review' email on 7/27. I'm OOS, but keeping! Hoping to hear something soon.
It also doesnt look like OOS IIs have gone out. I got the email around the same time as you and nada so lets hope for the bestBeen under review since 7/14. At least it seems like VCU is very straight forward with rejections, which I appreciate. I suppose no news is good news at this point.
I'm assuming you were complete very early then and looks like you have good stats. Congrats! That is not true. I am OOS and got an II very early, just didn't post it. LM 75
LizzyM ~67 and OOS.Sorry to hear that! Especially right after turning in your secondary :/ Would you mind sharing stats?
When were you complete?Got the status change in the portal indicating my review is now complete. pretty disappointed as it seems like a hold, although at least 1 person on here had that before II. at least it's not a rejection I suppose

7/23 I thinkWhen were you complete?
"Your File Review is now complete. If you are granted an interview, you will receive a status update on your applicant portal. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates."Wait what did it say?
I don’t think that’s a hold. Last year it was the “committee is interested in your candidacy” that was the hold but it also led to II"Your File Review is now complete. Oh I see. Maybe I jumped the gun a bit here, will try and employ some patience for once then. Thanks friendI don’t think that’s a hold. Last year it was the “committee is interested in your candidacy” that was the hold but it also led to II
Thanks for pulling this out from the archives, I'm clearly too lazy to do any research from previous threads lol. Interesting bit about it being likely for an OOS applicant as this is one of my state schools. Will wait and see what happensLast year's response from @Dean Mission about this status: "As you progress through the tiered process of review, your file will be binned and held at certain points. Your message indicates you have reached the terminal point of file review. Depending upon your score, you may or may not receive an interview. Given the message you received, it seems likely you are an out-of-state resident. VCU typically interviews ~635 people, so interview slots will be filled with applicants as they are available and in conjunction with their file review scores."
