I got a hold for fall grades. Is there any hope of a II? (Or prior precedent, I didn't see any in the 2018-2019 thread.) And if so would you be interviewing for a real shot at an A? I can only imagine the earliest interviews available would be January if they decided to grace me with an invite lol

If they were gonna reject you regardless, they would have probably just rejected you, so I say there is probably some hope.

BU doesn’t start handing out A’s until January 15th according to MSAR FYI

Current student here. So admissions gets together twice, once in December and again in February to review all the students who have interviewed. We have two dates when we release acceptances, one in January where we accept a few students and then the rest of the acceptances come out in late February or early March. Best of luck to you all!

So one of (many) big reasons I’d love to go to BU is to work with a certain researcher. I interviewed for a job in his lab almost five years ago coming out of undergrad (didn’t get the position, very understandably so), would it come off as presumptuous or off-putting to try to meet with him about potentially getting involved with his lab next year if I were to be accepted? That opportunity would be a major factor in my decisions down the road, but idk I just get this gross feeling when I think about doing it. Any help is appreciated!!

I’d hold off until you have an acceptance in hand.

too presumptuous. unless you are way beyond BU's level.

What you can do is mention him in your update letter or letter of interest after interview to show your sincere interest in BU.

If you decide to do this, be careful you don’t sound like that’s the only reason you are excited about BU (it should be one of the reasons). Also, keep it humble (I’m sure you would) to avoid sounding like you are giving an ultimatum or “if I can’t work with that person then I’m not interested“ sort of vibe. They may not be able to guarantee that arrangement and think you are a risk of not wanted their school if something that is uncertain doesn’t go according to your plan. (Unless you don’t want to go to BU if you can’t work with that person. In that case, just be honest.)
