Y’all have me wondering if I should’ve reported my parking tickets/non-moving violations, now. Yikes. I know in NY, such tickets don’t appear on your record, but if UC uses a really hardcore background check, who knows what’ll come up.

Edit: my concern is that one speeding ticket was reduced to a parking ticket, and I can’t be sure what that’ll show up as.

The only records I can find in my state (WA) are 2 at a district court and 1 at a municipal court. The district courts don't even keep records of what the ticket was.....so I am just going to guess that they were speeding tickets 5 years ago....As far as parking tickets, i ain't having none of that noise....

Addendum to University of Cincinnati secondary/supplemental application:

It has come to my attention that I have provided inaccurate and/or incomplete information on my secondary application in reference to the following question:

"Have you ever been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to, any moving traffic violations (moving violations include speeding tickets)? If yes, please explain fully below. (include information even if charges have been dropped, dismissed, or otherwise mitigated)."

I did not notice the information request for any convictions, guilty verdicts, or no contest in reference to violations that have been dropped, dismissed, or otherwise mitigated. Each of the three following cases have been dismissed prior to a court date due to a monetary fee that was paid. The cases and descriptions are as follows:

Will contact the family lawyer tomorrow to see if this needs to be disclosed given

If your traffic violation was indeed a misdemeanor, you're very much in a place I would call "screwed." This would only not be a problem if you met one of the exclusion criteria listed on the AMCAS applicant guide.

If not, I'm assuming you didn't declare this on your AMCAS primary, which means you will need to update every single school you have applied to, not just UC. As I mentioned earlier, this will look extremely careless to the level of incompetence at best or intentionally malicious at worst.

I cannot stress how important it is that you send a concise and to-the-point letter updating every school you've applied to about this oversight. You risk either having your acceptance rescinded or (worse) being expelled later on in medical school for concealing this if you do not report it now.

For people reading this in the future: you need to check on all of your prior tickets and convictions and see what levels of disclosure are required, as well as what level of crime they are.

Glad to hear you're contacting a legal professional for information on this! Sorry about the tone - the post I replied to didn't make any mention of you contacting a lawyer, and the post you made mentioning that appeared just before my own.

I also apparently naively assumed that you saying "help me" meant that you actually wanted some kind of advice or concern. I'll just step out of this conversation, since it seems you have a handle on everything relating to your undisclosed potential misdemeanor.

Just check the public records my guy. And don’t worry too much about it, as long as you didn’t do anything reckless I think ur good

Not a lawyer, so I can't confirm the veracity of this information. All of my advice is from a person who is a non-lawyer, and I take zero claims to the accuracy of this information. Confirm it all.

It seems most traffic violations in MD are infractions (not rising to the level of a misdemeanor) as they carry civil penalties, but check it to be clearer on this. Not a lawyer.


New Jersey:

No clue, this seems a bit more nebulous since NJ uses "disorderly persons offence" for misdemeanors and "indictable crime" for felonies. Check with a lawyer to see what these are considered for the purposes of med school apps.

I can't really interpret this very well, but it looks like most traffic violations are summary offences (not misdemeanors), but I don't know the level of reportability of summary offences for med school apps. Check with a lawyer to see what these are considered for the purposes of med school apps.


Again, I'm not a lawyer, just someone who likes to learn more about these kinds of laws and stuff (since the legal system is another massive tangle that parallels the healthcare system). Go talk to an actual lawyer to get better and more clear advice on whether to report these and check yourself on the records of these states if you received tickets in them.

I have something similar. My traffic violation isn't a moving violation also 0 points on my license, so I didn't disclose and it goes off my record this October.
 
Seems like it is IS first - anyone know if OOS later is a trend at cinci?

I know that IS will get late notice II (within couple days to < normal amount of weeks notice), but I don't believe there's a specific trend for OOS.

Yeah they don’t let you pick dates which sucks. I’d imagine out of state people will get more than 2 weeks notice.

When submission. I’d imagine early July. Which is why it’s complete bs when people say submission date matters very little as apps are not “stratified by chronological order”.

Hey everyone! Just out of curiosity has anyone else not received an update? I was complete around July 31st. I’ve heard it can take months to hear back, so I was just wondering.
 
So when all of you became complete did you receive an email from UCCOM or did you just look at your application status on their portal?
 
II, complete mid-July, OOS. A bit nervous about the MMI format, anyone have any tips?
 
@fletcher2 MMIs are supposed to be pretty prep proof, but at my interview at Cinci they did briefly get into some generic med school interview topics (ie talking about your motivations, goals, past experiences) so be ready to talk about yourself a little bit. The interview goes really really fast and didn't feel high pressure to me at all. For the most part the best you can do to prepare is just get a good nights sleep.
