secondary received! IS and loving the ~40-50% interview rate for in-state folks.

edit: prompts (same as last year):
Please limit your responses to 1,800 characters (including spaces) for each essay question.
- Highlight your experiences in the health care field. What insights have you gained about potential problems you will face as a physician?
- How will the University of Connecticut School of Medicine best serve your needs of becoming a physician or physician scientist?

Secondary received as well.
Yaaassss, same questions!!
Already pre-written.

Let go UCONN!!
My top top top choice (out of all my other top choices... All 25 of them)

For the healthcare experience one, did you just focus on one experience and one challenge?

For the healthcare experience, I work in healthcare so I just highlighted what i do.
For the challenge, I listed 2 potential problems.

If it's the same questions, can/should you just use the same answers as last year but just revised and tweaked a little? Or would it look better to provide new ones altogether and kind of go a different route?

For the potential problems section, would it be permissible to discuss issues with the healthcare system (such as insurance)?

has anyone gotten an email saying we are good to pay/submit yet?

Luckily I can't submit yet.
When I pre-wrote the secondary, I separated question 1 into 2 separate questions.
Now I have to combine and trim...

really hope they fix the payment system soon... this is giving me major anxiety and the problem is not even on my end...

Yea its annoying.... but my essays are getting better each day that goes by so im not TOO mad about it 🙂

I feel you. I really want to get submitting here over with already because this is my state school/alma mater and I'd be really happy to stay in Connecticut. I hope they let us submit in the next week!

I think I just successfully submitted to Uconn?
BUT!
I don't think I paid yet so I'm currently very confused... Did this happen to anyone else?

Update: Looks like they have a new link to the payment portal on the secondary application. I just successfully paid through that too.

Were you marked complete?

Edit: Never mind! Just got the email from them that the problem is resolved and we should all be able to submit/pay.

For potential problems as a physician, did you focus on personal problems or more general ones? I was originally focusing on a personal one, but after speaking to a friend I'm second-guessing myself

i dont think there is a "complete" email.
If it's like the other schools with AAMC-hosted portals (like NYMC), it may just take 5-ever. My secondary at NYMC took about a month, despite there being zero essays. I have a feeling these ones are manually marked complete.

should I apply if I'm OOS and have no ties to connecticut? I am within their MCAT/GPA range.

Has anyone gotten a completion or confirmation email after they submitted a secondary?

I'm confused on what they mean by "problems you will face as a physician"

Is that referring to systemic problems with the career such as physician burnout, work-life balance, large paperwork burden

Or solvable "problems" that physicians have in regards to patients such as helping patients make difficult decisions, cases that physicians can't solve themselves and have to use other resources, etc.

I'm not sure exactly what they mean, but maybe it's intentionally vague because they want to know what we think is particularly important or what we ourselves have seen? All of the things you've mentioned sound like good things to build a response around. I don't think you can go wrong by either addressing systemic problems or those more specific issues.

I think you'd be alright discussing any of the problems you've listed except the large paperwork burden because you could easily get a medical scribe.

This popped up after I paid the fee and clicked on return to account. I wonder if anyone else encountered the same issue. I did get an email saying I have paid the fee though.

I'm OOS so not really expecting much love but anybody get word back on their secondaries yet, R, II, etc?

Where can I get the link to the payment? I didn't get any update email from the admission office with the link. All I got was an email saying that they'll notify me once the link is fixed.

It is (in) the secondary. Its been a while for me but I believe when you go tonsubmit the s

I've already emailed the admissions office about this, but yesterday I submitted the secondary and did not get directed to the payment link.

for those who don't get the complete email, I emailed the school with my FAP confirmation and they replied me said no further action I needed to take. I assumed it means the file is completed

I paid the secondary fee July 16th and just got refunded that fee. Did that happen to anyone else?
