Just withdrew from the waitlist today. Good luck everyone!
You do realize that admissions offices can see whether you've opened their portal or whether you've read their emails? Google read-receipts for emails. Like others echoed, you're acting very entitledI 100% disagree with your opinion. The first email I received was an impersonal acceptance email, the second was asking if I had any questions and that I can view my acceptance letter on their portal. To receive a "you didn't respond to our last email so we're gonna revoke your acceptance", ESPECIALLY during a time like this is absolutely undeserving and represents the school poorly in my opinion. I could have been severely impacted by the virus, a loved one could have passed away (both of which happened) or I could have lost power due to the natural disasters that have inflicted several states.
This has nothing to do about being entitled. Instead of making personal attacks against my character, recognize my point of view. Just because I could not find the time within a two-week span to send a thank you email, they assume I'm not interested? You guys are absurd if you think that is normal or by any means warranted.
If you want to let it go, then do just that. Agree to disagree. Don't build upon the argument.
DUCOM just revoked my acceptance because I didn't answer their acceptance email or a follow up email basically asking me if I was gonna commit or not. Is it just me or is that kinda a dick move? I am by no way obliged to answer or commit until I have heard back from other schools and for them to just tell me "well you didn't answer us so we regret to inform you that you're no longer accepted into the program", seems ridiculous.

+1 a couple of weeks ago.
Thought it was very rude of them considering I’ve been in contact with their fin aid office and I’ve previously let them know emails have been getting sent to clutter/junk.
Drexel was at the bottom of my acceptances to begin with but this further cemented it; especially considering the Apr 15th deadline was right around the corner and ESPECIALLY considering I got fin aid emails after having my A rescinded? lol
Not cute but whatever keep it moving
With all due respect, can we move on from this topic? Many of us are eagerly awaiting decisions and come to SDN to see if folks are hearing back. I can't imagine anyone finds it helpful to keep reviving an argument. (srry for the false alert ya'll)
Then you should have shared it when the argument was relevant. Let’s not beat a dead horse. Move on...I understand your perspective but the forum isn’t limited to just admissions decisions, I am sharing an interaction I had with the school ; valid complaints and issues in regards to lack of professionalism from schools that demand a ton from their applicants should be openly critized on the only anonymous forum we have.
These forums and information is one of the only few tools those at the bottom of the medical education hierarchy have.
You, myself, and everyone else that is considering schools have every right to know about the actions of the administration some might possibly attend.

General question here I was hoping someone could answer. If I get off the waitlist somewhere sometime after 4/30, how long do I have to make a decision and withdraw from another school? In other words, how long can someone go with 2 med school acceptances on the CYMS tool? thanks!

thank you!I clicked on the withdraw button on the portal, and sent a short email to confirm. I got an email saying my refund would come in like 3 days or something from the deposit.
All this waiting has got me thinking:
As painful as the wait is - I think it may be a good thing. The longer they wait, more students will withdraw and open up more spots for people like us. More spots = more acceptances
No?
But has anyone actually been accepted from the waitlist?I think it depends on a couple of factors. Let's assume a student withdraws, opening up a spot. AdCom can either A) pull from current waitlist/deferred or B) admit a new applicant who hasn't been waitlisted/deferred yet.
If B, then yes, you're right, and we would want AdCom to wait as long as possible before handing out new decisions (assuming that if this spot hadn't opened up, you would be waitlisted or rejected because, eg, maybe they've actually already filled their class).
If A, then it likely doesn't matter. The only way A would matter is if they also have a cap on their waitlist - so then someone who might have been outright rejected will then be placed on the waitlist after AdCom pulls from it and opens up a spot.
Based on responses here, it seems like they're doing a mix of A and B? hard to tell though. Either way, unless I'm misunderstanding something, no news is not /necessarily/ good news, but ofc neither is it bad.
not sure? thought I might have seen some previous posts that said that but could totally be mistaken. However, same logic still applies if they're pulling people from their deferred pool rather than accepting fresh applicantsBut has anyone actually been accepted from the waitlist?
Lol let’s just agree that this whole process is just a crapshoot.not sure? thought I might have seen some previous posts that said that but could totally be mistaken. However, same logic still applies if they're pulling people from their deferred pool rather than accepting fresh applicants
I’m thinking movement will start next week.Lol let’s just agree that this whole process is just a crapshoot.
Also I’m thinking the reason why they haven’t been as active this week as they were last week is prob cause they're waiting for detailed reports on how many people planned to enroll at Drexel. Hoping for some news tomorrow!

Movement off the WL or just movement in general? I'm curious as to anyone will come off the WL before everyone who interviewed in late March and early April have heard anything back.
any ideas as to why they would take off WL before handing out final decisions to all March/April interviewees? doesn't really make sense to me. as long as the bar for A, WL, R remains the same throughout the cycle, wouldn't it be more beneficial for them to go through all their applicants to fully see what they're working with before they accept off WL? I mean in the end, the powers that be work in frustratingly non-transparent, mysterious ways lolI think both. I think last cycle during this time, they had both together.
Yep you got me I'm wearing my Zoom™-sponsored Drexel T-shirt that I got during my virtual interview!
Literally wear it to sleep hahaDon't lie, y'all are wearing that Drexel T-shirt from interview day for good luck 😉 I know I'm guilty as charged lolol.
