NYU has been my dream school ever since my mom got open heart surgery there several years ago. I worked on a clinical research team here for 2 years just to be surrounded by the culture.

NYU gave me my first R today and it definitely stings! As disappointed as I am, I also know that residency is “right around the corner” and I can still make this dream happen by grinding it out in med school.

Best of luck to everyone who gets an interview here, it’s an amazing school (even sans free tuition) and hopefully my R made it possible for someone incredible to get that sweet acceptance!

Alright, now I know - calling them out to love me makes them push me away. Got that “Though we are unable to offer you an interview at this time, please rest assured that we will continue to review your application throughout the remainder of the interview season.”

Just received the hold email as well. This was for sure a huge reach so I guess the fact it wasn't an outright rejection boosts my confidence slightly lol. Definitely taking this as a soft R though.
