Congrats to those accepted! I'm still waiting on an II. Does anyone know if this school give II preferably to OOSers who have connections to Rochester or NY?

I can't cite verifiable evidence, but anecdotally, any school that you have a connection to, will give you a preference. How much that preference is, is obviously variable.

I like to consider the following viewpoint: Interviews are a limited commodity. They require energy, time, and money on everyone's behalf and adcoms want to interview candidates that they feel are genuinely interested in their program. If they substantially misjudge who is interested, then they can end up with low yields and difficulty filling a class.

A school or regional connection is one way they can judge interest- whether that's fair or not is another consideration entirely.

TL;DR I believe any school gives preference to students with a connection to their school/region, but that amount of preference is variable.

I am only one person, but fwiw, I got an II as an OOSer with zero ties to Rochester or NY. I am from MA though.

Makes sense, good point. Thanks

Waitlisted; interviewed 10/31.

Congratulations to everyone accepted though! I'm sure you will all do great there 🙂

I got in and I have only West Coast ties and have been in CA all my life. They didn't seem to mind a lot but they did ask me how I felt about moving to Rochester during my interview.

To folks who have interviewed already, what time did the day end? Trying to figure out how early of a flight I can book

Some people in my cohort had their last interviews at 3:30 pm so you might stay there till 4 or later. If you really have to leave earlier, try emailing them so that they can arrange your interviews earlier.

Yeah, it depends on what time your last interview is scheduled for. Some people were cut loose around 2:45 but others had to wait until like 4:00 because they had later one-on-ones. Regardless, you should know that the Rochester airport is the calmest airport that I have ever seen (I was there the week of Thanksgiving too).
UofR to the airport by Uber: 15 mins
Changing clothes at the airport: 10 mins
Checking bags: 3 mins
Security: 3 mins
I was at my gate ~30 minutes after getting into the Uber. I even have TSA Pre-check but forgot to put my number when I bought the ticket so I went through regular security, but it didn't matter because there was no wait anyways.

anyone hear back recently? interview on 11/13, figuring I should hear back any day now because it's been almost 5 weeks...

Has anyone else here applied MD / MBA? Wanted to hear about other interview experiences and turnaround time on decisions. The Simon staff suggested that there might be faster turnaround on these decisions. Interviewed mid Dec

How long do interviews go here? Are they done with ii?

Have any other accepted students started looking into housing? I know at the interview they mentioned the “white coat neighborhood” but its all kind of overwhelming to start

I would check out the student-to-student guide on the accepted students page. It’s in the important documents tab. Lots of good info on housing there. I think the second look weekend might be a chance to seek out potential roommates too.

I got an II about a week ago and forgot to post! I was complete in July so keeping hope alive! I also got the hold email back in November

This gives me hope thank you!
