where does it discuss SPE and what exactly happens?

I’m not sure where it discusses that but I interviewed this cycle and had two SPEs at the end of my one-on-one interviews.

They give you about a minute to read a scenario and then the encounter starts. A lot like MMI except you’re with actors. Hope this helps!

sorry what is SPE?

Anybody interviewing on 9/12 want to split an Uber from IAH? Or any local
Houstoners have any advice from getting from IAH to downtown? Like how long would it take at rush hour if the day ends at 5pm and I have an 8pm flight?

If you only have carryon and leave exactly at 5, you should be able to get there by 6.30 or earlier on HOV pathways (you + a driver should qualify). I assume you will find others trying to leave too to share.

They don't review in the order submitted?

Not that I am aware, if you ever want more information, just go and look at last years cycle thread for A&M, or any other school. You can scroll through and see when'ish people were getting invites, and they often say when they submitted etc. like they do now.

Anybody know if the interview day actually goes till 5PM? If so, is it possible to make it from the school to the airport in college station in time for a 6:15PM flight?

Interviews for all are at the end of the day from 2-5. It will depend on how you’re scheduled in that timespan. The people who finished earliest had interviews and their SPE back-to-back. They ended at four.

Can you give some insight into the SPEs? How long are they and what are the expectations?

You'll have two SPEs at five minutes each. Its like a CASPER situation but interactive. You'll read a prompt then go into a room with an actor, and you interact for five minutes! One scenario will be like a colleague/friend situation and the other will be clinical. There's no technical knowledge needed. It's kind of like interacting with a patient from clinical volunteering or talking to a friend about some problem they're having.

They do record you and its apparently a part of the admissions decision. Most people were saying it was easy/fun, and it's over before you know it so I wouldn't worry too much about it!

Anyone know approximately when the EnMed interview day ends? Also, is there a pre-interview dinner the night before? Trying to book my flight to leave the night after the interview. Thanks

Can’t speak to the length of the day, but the interview packet I got does not mention a dinner.

congrats! for EnMed or regular MD? I may wait to book my flight till after you interview lol

Thanks and for EnMed! I’ll let you know when it ended. If I forget to say anything on Thursday just shoot me a message on Friday.

Are there current batches for ENMED or is 2020 the first batch of students?

The EnMed program is in its 2nd year as far as I can tell. Last application season they sent out a bunch of rejections 😱 in mid-December and sent out their first acceptances on Match Day.

how many are in 2019 batch?

Really hard to find this number anywhere (and I have searched since last year!) but I estimate 20 to 25 of the total class of 126 are in EnMed.
Thanks. It is surprising A&M has only a class of 126?

Don't quote me on this, but I think they said 40 for en med and 100 for md is their plan for this year
