Depends on your interviewer. The topic was brought up and I spoke about how I felt regarding the topic. I personally wouldn't have brought it up myself but since it was asked, I contributed and expanded on the topic even. I would ask more personal and relevant questions to the interviewer, like, "How long have you been here? Do you like Galveston? What exactly do you do (research, clinical, etc)?" Show that you can listen to them speak as well.
Unless you genuinely feel passionate about political policy in medicine, have a stance that is fleshed out, and depending on your interviewer, then maybe, but I think there are better questions that would contribute more to the reviewer's comments about you. Sure it is nice to know where faculty stand on certain things but having a conversation about their career and experience at UTMB might be more beneficial.
