Wayne started their own pediatrics group last year when University Pediatrics (group who works for DMC) switched their affiliation from WSU to CMU after years of tension. Now DMC is barring Wayne States new group from working at the children’s hospital.

The new dean says it doesn’t affect student education, but hopes the decision is reversed.

That’s intense !! I knew about the whole Henry Ford , DMC problem last year but wasn’t aware that their also barring Wayne’s new group from children’s hospital.. hopefully it doesn’t affect the students in any way

Wayne should honestly just make the move towards having HFHS as their primary affiliated hospital system. It’s a non profit hospital unlike DMC and seems to value research and education. They were very close last year but some turmoil happened within the Board of Governors and Roy Wilson. Hope those talks can rekindle under the new dean, as he stated his goal is to make Wayne State a top 30-40 medical school.
 
Do we have to select CTE on May 1st or within 5 business days of May 1st?

Or, can we hold WL from other schools and then wait until June 24th to select CTE?

You can hold WL from other schools and then wait until Wayne's CTE deadline to select CTE.

Thank you! Much appreciated. There is just a note in the WSU timeline that confused me about the 5 business days to select CTE.

I think that's for people who are accepted after the CTE deadline, but please double check to make sure! I don't want you to lose your acceptance and have no other options.
 
From my understanding I believe we have 5 days to PTE post May 1st. (but im honestly confused too...)

They usually accept people up until orientation. Did it seem as though they are ahead on the waitlist-acceptances process? I really hope they keep sending them out sooner rather than later.

Same. My spouse is currently interviewing for jobs up there, just in case, but I also have kids who will need school, daycare, doctors and a home in Detroit ASAP. Not to mention selling our house in our current town.

its not actually 2 weeks. Wayne in the portal on the acknowledge standards thing says you have 5 days to respond to an offer between May 1st -31st. Just trying to make sure you dont accidentally lose a spot.

hmm okay. That's good to know, because I do not see that anywhere in my portal. Do you think it just takes a bit for the portal to update after an acceptance?

its not easy to find but i guarantee it's there. I think you click WSUSOM acknowledge standards which shows a timeline which then says what to do in if accepting an offer off the waitlist.
