2020-2021 Boston University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also interested in this - I’d love to send a letter of interest but I have zero material for an update later (same job, same volunteering, not taking classes) unless BU is interested in my very mediocre attempts to re-teach myself the piano.
Bro unless your teaching piano to URM while at the same time curing cancer I wouldn't confuse them with more stuff that could just distract them from your application, If you didn't get an R till now your doing real well, good luck

Oh I know, that was a joke.
I interviewed at BU and got an email about how they want updates but I have nothing to update them with lol.

Does anyone remember from the Dean's info session the timeline of what would happen after an interview? I know that they send out the first wave of decisions in December, but what happens after that?

In December they'll send out the first set of decisions - A/R/defer to March (majority). Then they do their second wave of interviews from Jan-March, and then at the end of March they'll release everyone's decisions A/WL/R.

someone on this thread posted about post-interview rejections, have those been happening already?

Are you thinking you won't send them any updates? I'm wondering about this as well, the wording of the email seemed to suggest that if we want to be considered we should update them but I have no changes in my life.

I wrote a letter of interest but haven't decided whether to send it or not. I'm leaning towards yes since I really liked BU (interest is 100% genuine!) and because that email psyched me out.

Are they receptive to interest letters? I know there's an intent letter option on the portal but no specific option for a letter of interest which, I believe, are viewed skeptically by many adcoms

added this school yesterday and just completed the secondary today--am i too late?

They sent an email to everyone who interviewed a week or so ago stating really explicitly that they want post interview updates, and at least to me the language implies that they’re going to consider no information to indicate lack of interest. Thus my dilemma. My letter is kind of an update on a volunteering thing I mentioned in my primary but have since done a lot more of combined with an expression of continuing interest in the school. Genuinely not sure whether to send it.

Yeah this is why I'm feeling conflicted. The fact that they stated "If you wish to remain a candidate here at Boston University, we encourage you to keep our Committee on Admissions up to date on your activities and on any substantive changes since you submitted your initial application." I definitely wish to remain a candidate, but I have no substantive changes at all since my initial application hahah. I'm also considering writing an email to them stating I am still interested but have no updates, but I'm being totally neurotic about whether it's a good or bad idea. I'm curious about what you end up deciding to do.

Yea I interviewed about two weeks ago and remember this email too. I just wasn't sure if a letter of interest would fulfill that. Not a terrible idea though honestly!

For anyone in the session right now, has the meeting not started?
