2020-2021 Dartmouth (Geisel)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Unfortunately, I'm not on Gmail. Fingers crossed it's not a soft R since I love this school, but it seems pretty sus to only send updates to some applicants.
I wouldn't personally read too much into it. Honestly, I'm just laughing out of relief because I definitely froze seeing that email in my inbox (thinking it was a rejection). Dartmouth seems to be pretty good about avoiding silent Rs. Remember, it's not over until they say it's over.

its either a soft R or they really woke up and chose to play mind games today

For those of you who interviewed already, did ya'll find the interviews hard with traditional questions, or more conversational about your application? Trying to keep my nervousness down...I'm not so great with interviews >.<

+1 to the "welcome to send updates via the portal" email. I've already sent all my updates up to this point though. I'm assuming it's just a communication saying they're slightly delayed.

+3 on the update... gave me a temporary cardiac arrest lol.

+1 Also just received app increase update... Heart briefly stopped when the first line was "thank you for your interest" and was 100% expecting it to be an R... On a positive note, we all live to see another week!

Same!! I thought for sure it was an R. Hopefully we get better news soon 🙂

I doubt not receiving the email is a bad thing. Dartmouth, from this thread itself, doesn't do silent Rs. They'll just reject you. It might come later as well.

I was complete on August 11th and didn't get it. Based on ppl's signatures, ppl complete in late August, September and later seems to be the ones who got it. Can anyone disprove my theory?

I can disprove your theory. I did not receive the email and I was complete 9/12.

I can also disprove this theory - complete 9/9 and didn't receive an email

And...I just got another one. Another day, another mini-heart attack.

i was complete 10/1 for the MSTP program and got the email

And honestly, I think we may be reading too much into it. I received 2 (one today and one yesterday), so I wouldn't be surprised if things were a little glitchy with their system.

Dartmouth has also been very consistent (re: brutal) with issuing pre-II rejections, so I don't believe that a stealthy silent R is really their style.

First time applicant here. Just a quick question. How should the update be structured? I assume it should be relatively concise and should be on events/work since I submitted my secondary. I feel like Im bouncing between overthinking and underthinking this ;_; LOL

Lol got the email. Complete 8/21. We thinking just anyone they haven't said anything to they just sent a blanket email to?

I got the email too, complete 10/31 for those trying to theorize around when people were complete 🤓
