2020-2021 Dartmouth (Geisel)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
jeez are they just going through rejecting everyone now? It always humbles me to see these strings of high stat, great applicants getting rejected before interview. This process is so insane

Does the wave of Rs mean they're going to start sending out early accepts/waitlists soon too?

Complete 7/18 and no R yet. I expect it soon, especially since I sent them an email last month and referred to them as WVU lol

I was emailing with a friend about editing my secondaries while also emailing another school an admissions question. I accidentally sent that school drafts of my secondaries for a DIFFERENT school....and I still received an II. If you were complete 7/18 and no word yet....take that as a good sign! WVU slip up or not!

i can feel the R coming, submitted 7.23

Complete 7/18. As a mediocre applicant with only 1 II:

Has anyone IS gotten an ii or R ? I feel like I’m in some other pile for being IS since I haven’t seen anything so far in the sub for IS people (which there isn’t a lot of us according to MSAR...)

Oh man. I need to not get on SDN. I'm a low stat nontrad, and Dartmouth is my reach school. Complete 7/28 so I'm sure to be on the chopping block soon if ya'll high stat people getting R's are any indication.

*sigh*

For the "share something about yourself" prompt, would it be inappropriate to discuss how something about yourself makes you believe Geisel is the right school for you? I am now realizing my essay focuses 80% on the programs at Geisel and only like 20% on the "something about yourself", but I do connect the two ideas.
Turn it around: they already know about their own programs; tell them about yourself!

Don't lose hope! Dartmouth loves nontrads with a lot of life experience.

I talked about literally ALL my hobbies in my primary (combined them) so would it be random/inappropriate if I used my adversity essay for the "tell us one thing that is not addressed anywhere else" prompt?

its about how I coped with sexual assault (which I know is controversial to begin with but I did it tactfully)

I used my adversity essay and it was about dealing with racism/xenophobia. Should be okay to use sensitive topics?

first, I just wanted to say that you're brave and your feelings are valid. I'm sure you already know this, but anything you disclose is fair game for the interview. Make sure you can speak about how you have grown and healed from that experience without tears. I would also avoid disclosing anything about personal mental health (such as challenges, etc) bc acdoms can take that as a warning of you not being able to handle the stress of medical school (unfortunately stigmas surrounding these topics are rampant).
much appreciated feedback. I am very much able to discuss it, and the majority of the essay talked about how I started running to cope and then was finally able to confide in people I loved. definitely no mention of mental health.

thanks for your words of support!

Late to the party but received an R on Wednesday via email as well.. OOS, complete 7/14, LM 69. Good luck to everyone else
