Anyone know how to upload our headshot photo for the interview?

Edit: Solution is to convert the .jpeg to a .pdf by choosing print and instead of printing it saving it as a .pdf! Hope that helps anyone

Just want to say congrats to everyone interviewing today. I did it last week and everyone was super nice so please relax. I got nervous the second my interviews started and hope I didn't ruin my chances because of it so try to keep it calm as mine was a little rough. Hopefully we all get some good news next week.

hi guys. if i was complete end of july and havent heard anything, is there still hope? or not really for mcw? do they do silent rejections? it doesnt seem like they're silent bc they send us really nice updates letting us know where they are at with apps, but i have no idea

It sounds like there is some hope until you get a rejection. I'm also anxious to hear something! I pretty much always check my email waiting for the rejection 🙄

post interview acceptance rate ? any insight ? any stats ?
83.69% IS and 87.84% OOS according to US News Compass. That varies from year to year, but most people who interview end up getting accepted.

Edited: There seems to be some debate as to how accurate this data is. For most schools, US News is very accurate, but it's certainly possible that this data is incorrect. MSAR says that 252/820 interviewees matriculated, so the value is at a minimum of 31%. Given that most schools accept 2-3x the number of people that they matriculate, this value is likely closer to 62-92%. Most conservatively, I'd err on the side of 60%. Earlier in the thread, someone said that they learned that 400-450/600 interviwers are accepted each cycle for the Milwaukee campus, which is somewhere between 66 and 75%. Suffice it to say, getting an II is a very good sign of the probability of getting an A!

That seems awfully high...what data is this year from and is it still relevant to this cycle ?

Should be 2020 but previous years have similar stats. It's usually at least 60%.
For this cycle, I’m working under the assumption that a lot of the normal rules are being thrown out the window because of COVID.

MCW has announced pretty significant changes to their cycle, but the number of interviews wasn't one of them.

do you know what % of last year’s interviews they’ve given out?
Unfortunately, they don't release this information on their website. The only people that would know is someone who asked the admissions office during an interview or the admissions officers themselves.

Unfortunately, pretty sure this is fake news

The actual rate is more like 60%, still really high but definitely not 85%

Sources: MCW biennal report showed rates of like 65% and 55% for the years 2009 and 2010, and the MSAR and US News seem to only report *interviews* from Milwaukee but they seem to report *acceptances and matriculations* for all the campuses combined.
If true, that's very interesting. I updated my original post to provide this information.

How are interviewees notified of acceptances? Is it email, phone, portal, or some combination of these?

to clarify on their exam schedules - is mcw one of those schools that has all of its tests within the same week and how do students survive that versus having exams spread out. sounds like a finals week every three weeks, cant decide if that's good or bad. seems like youd get more down time between exams and stay caught up on material

I made this spreadsheet. That’s data that MCW directly reported in 2019 to USNWR. They’re unranked this year so I don’t have updated data for them

What does it mean to be unranked by us news?
"If a school is listed as unranked, that means that U.S. News did not calculate a numerical rank because the school did not supply enough key statistical data to be numerically ranked" & "Schools with provisional, preliminary or pre-accreditation were only eligible to be listed on usnews.com as unranked." so essentially it just means they didn't provide all of the needed data

Why would a school opt to go unranked?

Why would a school opt to go unranked?
Every school is going to be different, but they just choose to withhold information to protect their image/policies. For example, I've heard some public schools go unranked to try to hide how many OOS applicants they interview/accept in an effort to keep OOS secondary fees rolling in. This information is kinda available on MSAR though, so it's impossible to say what MCW is unranked for.

For some schools, I think they feel being "unranked" is better than being ranked very low.
See previous years USNews rankings, MCW has never been "very low"; MCW has always been a reputable program and a solid medical school. Some programs (e.g., Tulane) never report data to USNews and thus are always "unranked". Tulane is an excellent medical school.

Institutions have their reasons for not providing this data but it is far from a "red flag". Not sure why the match list is not made publicly available (it's provided to you during interview day) but I'm not worried about that considering I know many former MCW students who have matched into very prestigious residencies.

Does anyone know if they specifically accept non-academic updates? I know they accept updates, but I graduated and only have professional updates such as hundreds of extra hours of research, not grades.

I submitted non-academic updates!

Edit: It doesn't say anywhere that they only accept academic updates so I assumed that meant they welcomed non-academic updates as well

During my interview day, they definitely made it sound like they did accept non-academic updates (but I can't recall them explicitly saying so). Since there is a different spot for transcripts and updates, I would definitely think that they do!

Thanks! Is that only post interview or do you think someone can send one pre-II? I know I technically can, but more so if they will accept it and give it consideration for a possible II.

Was this pre or post II?

To be totally frank, I don't know for this school officially. However, it is common tactic at other schools. I also know that they review your entire application post-II (they told me to send any applicable updates even after interviewing), but I would just go ahead and send them. It's not going to hurt you to put your best foot forward!

Very good advice, thank you! Fingers crossed for an II soon

I interviewed here on 10/30. If they said we will hear back "on or before Nov 20" does that usually mean on that day?

I was also told that I would hear back ON 11/20. The information day presenter said to upload any application updates by 11/16 so that they would be considered by the admissions committee in their final review. It's unlikely that you will hear back before 11/20 since the ADCOMS are meeting this week.
