thank you! and do you know which interview date that is up to? does that cover any date ranges outside of november 5th?
I dont know anything other than the date on which people received an acceptance call

But in regards to some other posts...

From personal experience, ppl who are interviewing in jan/feb are most likely interviewing for a waitlist spot :/

not sure if things will be different this year

but on the bright side, I think about 70-75 people got off the wait list last year

Ooof, they've given out over half (114) of the pre April 30th A's in the first month of interviewees (10/2-11/5 I'm pretty sure)?

800 interviews/5 months (Oct-Feb)= 160 interviewees per month. 114/160ish got A's?

At that rate, the first week of December might have a shot but not much further after.

EDIT: I suppose they didn't interview the week of Thanksgiving, extending it to mid-December. And they probably didn't interview anyone the last two weeks of December, meaning all of December probably has a shot at an outright A. Seems strange for this to be in-line with past years when there were no September interviews. Unless they went crazy in October to make up for it?

oof that hurts, shoutout all my peeps who have upcoming interviews :/

+1. Coming up on 11 weeks of waiting post-interview.. it's almost impressive how far behind/slow they are in reviewing applicants.

Perhaps they should've communicated that the 4-8 week follow-up timeline wasn't going to happen?
I agree, and UMN is notoriously on the slow side... if I remember correctly, when I was at my interview day (or maybe it was even during day 2) they did say if u are after the 10 week mark it would be okay to contact them to see whats goin on.. I would maybe do that esp if u interviewed before thanksgiving! Doesnt hurt to ask and see 🙂

It is sort of baffling how this seems to happen every year and they don’t update the timeline that they give us. It would certainly be nice to get an email that says “sorry, we are running X weeks behind.”

If you call or email their office they will tell you the status of where your app is in the review process!!

I would wait at least the 10 weeks since otherwise it looks rude and pushy, especially if everyone starts doing that.
I concur, i think give it 80 days from interview before inquiry.

edit: i say 80 days because the Nov. 5th squad heard back on the 75th day. so a 5 day buffer seems decent. but who am I lol

Ok, I guess we still have to hold on to hope! Someone posted in the Duluth thread that they still have 100 interviews left to do and will continue interviewing into March. Not necessarily relevant to the TC campus but I'm just trying to hold on to any positive news related to UMN at this point!
OOS and more interested in IM so I only applied to TC. I have a tiny bit of hope since there seem to have been some Pre-II rejections pass my complete date, thus maybe I am still in the running. There are a few labs at UMN I really want to do research at, this is on my top 3.

Just received an email explaining how their review process has been delayed and their initial plan to have an interview decision for every file by feb 15 will not be feasible lol
Did everyone receive this email? I interviewed in December but did not receive this email.

I received this too. Did anyone not get this email? Wondering if this is anything special or if it was just a mass email to those who haven’t gotten interviews

So does the email mean that people who applied later in the cycle still have a chance for an interview?

I interview feb 16th, is it true that we are only interviewing for waitlist spots 😞

Only way to confirm is to ask admin closer to the date maybe? since everything is different this year

per my experience last year, it seemed that the class was full by late dec/early jan

but there’s a lot of WL movement so stay optimistic!

Don’t schools normally accept 2-3x their class size?

Give your best and don’t think much about the waitlist possibility - even if that is the case, which is less likely to be true this year, you’re more likely to get off of the waitlist if you just focus on being you and sharing your passion. This process is exhausting and draining but keep at it <3

we're sitting on a 2-3 week delay for decisions after nov 5th in my opinion and based on my extensive historical analysis.

i interview feb 18th and im worried about that too. especially since its my only II so far (but grateful nonetheless). if we kill our interviews, we'll have an even better chance at getting accepted! good luck to you.
