Hey all, I was accepted back in January, but now I am just second-guessing myself. Did we only have to accept our seat on the portal, or did we have to pay the deposit in addition at this time? I was hesitant to pay the deposit (I know it's refundable but tight on money currently) until I hear back from more schools and make my final decision. The way it was worded on the portal made it seem like I didn't have to pay it until later, but wasn't sure what others have done.

You don’t have to pay the deposit until July from what I read!

I think it may be due by April 30th! I would check the amp and also call admissions just in case! It can’t hurt and you don’t want to accidentally lose ur spot. Congrats on the acceptance 🙂

Oh my gosh. It is April 30th. I’m sorry! I just checked again. July 1st is final transcripts. Thanks for catching my mistake

No worries!! It’s so hard they bombard us with so much information all at once! I just wanted to make sure no one lost their spot by accident 🙂 Now I know when to send final transcripts!

Probably a dumb question, the 3+5 Orthopedic Program.... is that for orthopedic surgery? Or for clinical orthopedics?

Surg, might be wrong but not sure there's such thing as just clinical ortho training

Are they currently sending post-interview rejections or waiting until the end?

Should a 6-9 week wait be expected? Forgot to ask during the interview last week.

Seems like it has varied with most people falling into the 10-12 range. Only a few people, me included (6 weeks for me), seem to have heard back earlier. I would think at this point they'd have to get back to you with some type of decision sooner than the 10-12 week timeframe since we are now a week into March lol.

Make sense to me - thank you!

One more question - is there anything to look for in the portal that changes when a decision is made? Or should we just keep an eye on our email?

There is like an i section that tells u about ur offer. I’ve only seen it after I received emails but I’m not sure how early they add it when you are accepted

I only checked my portal after I had received my acceptance email. There will be "admissions decision", "Pre-Matriculation", and "Info for Matriculation" tabs added to your portal with a whole bunch of stuff within them once accepted. My neuroticism manifested itself in checking my email every ten minutes, not my portals, so I can't say which came first 🙂

Does anyone know when acceptances go out for the accelerated programs?

Hi! I have an interview next week and I am wondering if anyone would be willing to share their experience? Was there anything that you wished you did before your interview to prepare? I have not completed an interview where my interviewer's name is disclosed. Neither of my interviewers for Penn are active with research, so other than knowing their specialty, are there things I should research about them? Thank you so much! Feel free to Dm too.

Interviewing this week, I'll message you after I've had mine 🙂

I didn't do any in depth research for my interviewers and it wasn't a big deal at all. Mine just wanted to talk about me, which is how it should be! I had a great experience with both of my interviewers. I'd say just be aware of who are they are generally speaking but otherwise be focused on talking about yourself and answering the general interview questions everyone mentions.

Hey! Honestly, I was super nervous but it was such a chill day! Leading up to the one-on-ones, it's pretty nice, just introductions, presentations, and the like. The actual interviews are open-file and I think that everyone gets interviewed by one faculty member and one asst. dean??? Not too sure about that but that was the situation for me (and from what I saw on reddit, others too!) but not too sure about that info. For researching the professors, I looked into what they were doing (teaching, research, speciality) and ~slyly~ worked it into my questions without being direct and asking them hey, after I googled you, what about x y and z? But that's also cause I was overanalyzing and it was my first interview

Lmk if you have any more questions!!

Has anyone attended the Diversity Day Preview (Sundays at 8pm)? I was invited to it on the day before my interview, and was curious if any one else had attended one before and whether it was worth attending... I would have to take off from work that's why lol

In my honest opinion, I did not think it really had a huge impact. I think if you cant make it you will not miss out. Most of the things they talked about in the first half was on the website, and then for the second half they put us into breakout rooms with a student to talk and chat about the school, but the student with me was awkward and I felt uncomfortable haha.

Thanks for the heads up! Honestly that was what i was expecting since there's only so much you can do on a campus with 5 URMs total in the last matriculating class 😂 Either way, i'll see if i can make it to see the vibe i can get from students since the break out rooms might be useful. Appreciate it

I forgot to mention that they send you a little goodie bag that you go through on the call as well, which was kind of cute. The facebook page for the incoming class looks like it has a lot more URMs this year. I feel like they are striving towards making a more representative class this year. We will see how many people end up actually matriculating I suppose haha.

I know that they say it takes 6-8 weeks for a decision post-interview, but do we think that might speed up since April madness is so close?
I have a friend who interviewed last year in March and heard back on April 30th... maybe it was bc of COVID but I doubt they'll tell us anything much sooner than others have heard. Portal/email (forgot which one) said 6-8 weeks.

Does anyone know what a post II hold means and if that is the same thing as a waitlist here. Also what is this LM number everyone keeps posting
LM is LizzyM number, a score based on your MCAT and GPA. you can calculate yours here:

It's nothing official, just another metric to drive ourselves crazy with lol.

As far as hold v waitlist, I believe hold is them punting your app to the next committee meeting where they will eventually decide to accept, reject, or waitlist you.

Hello! Has anyone heard back after interviewing on these dates yet: 1/18, 1/20, or 1/22? Just trying to estimate how much longer I will be stressing about this for every hour of every day 🙂 thank you!

Whaaat we didn't get a goodie bag when I interviewed in Sept! Lol
