2020-2021 Rochester

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone here filled out financial aid info yet? I want to see how much I'll be able to get from Rochester. I did my fafsa, am in the middle of completing my CSI profile thing on collegeboard, and it says on the URMC financial aid website that we need to send in our parents tax return forms to the financial aid office. Do we do that now? Or should we wait a bit for them to contact us with some sort of further information on financial aid and other logistics?

Apologies if someone has already asked this but for their 4 most significant ecs/volunteer experiences are full time jobs held since graduating college fair game? It doesn't exactly feel like an ec or volunteer experience but obviously its been a pretty significant part of my life.

Keep in mind that Rochester does blind interviews and the only things the interviewers see are the answers to these four questions. Answer accordingly

For anyone that interviewed first week of December, did they say decisions would come before the holidays? The website says decisions are released 6-8 weeks after the interview but I can not remember if they say it would be earlier for December interviewees.

That’s what I did! Definitely significant.

Has anyone sent an update letter? Unsure of who to send to

Anyone (OOS) from the week of 11/2-11/6 heard back post-interview this week?

I got the A!!! My first one this cycle!!! OOS w/ no ties. Interviewed 11/12.

I apologized if this has already been asked on the thread, but could someone explain the 2 week response request? Is accepting an offer different than committing to enroll at the school?
Lol we interviewed on the same day.

Yes, accepting the offer is different than committing to enroll at a school. You can accept as many offers as you want until like April, when you have to narrow your choices down to 3 then eventually 1 school (withdrawing from all other schools).

Got the A awhile ago (early December) :scared:, not sure where to go from here. Any advice?

Can anyone speak to what the group discussion portion of the interview day is like?

Sorry if this has been asked already but for the 4 activities to list on the portal after the II- are these supposed to be different from the activities description listed on the primary? I obviously don’t want to just copy and paste but I felt like I said what I wanted to already on the primary app. Thanks in advance!

I think it’s okay to paraphrase the stuff you said in your primary for your activities, but certainly don’t copy paste. At least, that’s what I did. And I was fortunate to get the A, fwiw/in case you’re wondering what the basis of my suggestion is. Best of luck!

I found mine to be very low-stress. The moderator presented an ethical dilemma and applicants took turns elaborating their thoughts. The moderator occasionally chimed in to put a spin on the situation and seek any further responses but it was over before I knew it, and again, very chill overall. Not too much to stress about, in my experience.

Haven't been active in a while so sorry if this was already asked, but is there a Facebook group up for accepted students?

Edit: Also, how do we get started on the background check? Are we supposed to sign up ourselves or is there some sort of link we should receive?
From my understanding I think we should receive an email from Certiphi with the link to complete the background check forms.

I haven't seen a facebook group so I decided to make one, here's the link: Facebook group
