For those who submitted a prelim and have yet to receive a secondary, how does your portal look? Mine changed from saying the prelim would be reviewed, to now saying a status update will be emailed to me. Just waiting on that R. 🙁

UW MSTP says "currently highly placed in the "hold" list category". Anybody from past cycles have any insight on this?

IS, 3.99/526, ~6000 hours research, no pubs Prelim complete 07/17, 2 complete 07/24

I remember seeing in previous years that UW likes to send a letter for R's usually saying something along the lines of "An update regarding your application has been mailed to you." Not sure if they're changing anything up this year.

Have any regular-MD applicants received secondaries yet?

OOR, LM 66, ORM too - is it worth applying here? The only reason I am considering is that I have many publications and I know this school is huge on research
If you're applying MSTP, it's definitely worth a shot. There isn't really an IR bias for MSTP. If applying for the MD program, don't expect a lot since you're OOR but worth giving a shot since they waived the $35 application fee.

MCAT is optional for MSTP this year, but according to their website, they will evaluate your app with and without an MCAT score if you have already taken it. As a heads up, the two applicants that have II from the tracker this year have stats of 525/3.98 and 519/3.9 and they receive ~600 MSTP apps/year. However, If you have 1st/2nd author pubs in big-name journals like science, cell, or nature...i'd say go for it. This would be the year where a LM 66 might have a shot!

I'm a regular MD applicant does this change your perspective any?

Don't apply. 0.3% OOR acceptance. You could be a LM 85 and it wouldn't matter haha. They only accept OOR applicants that have extensive work with underserved populations (like AmericaCorps for several years) or from a severely disadvantaged background.

Has UWSOM started sending secondaries yet?

Has UWSOM started sending secondaries yet?

Can't say for sure, but I don't think so. Nobody has posted about it, and there is nothing on their website indicating regular MD secondaries have been sent out. The questions are posted online, though, so everyone can prepare them!

There was discussion on reddit about someone(s) adding II dates to the spreadsheet for two other schools (Case and ???) when neither has sent them out. So, if you're looking at that sheet as a guide for the current situation I suggest taking it with a grain of salt.

There have been MSTP interviews extended (as mentioned in this thread). The reported IIs are likely those applicants.

Wow I have never felt more relieved than I did after reading this thread. I thought that UW had just decided I was trash. Has anyone received any word on secondaries yet?

At this point i have a feeling UW's cycle is gonna be so later than everybody else.

Do I have to reach out to the MD of MSTP office to get the MD secondary (already received and submitted the MSTP prelim and secondary) or will it come automatically because I am a resident? I would rather not reach out because I don't want to seem not committed to MD/PhD but having UW MD as a backup would be awesome.
Did anyone figure this question out? I'm in the same boat.

TIL Washington requires your CASPer before telling you the decision on a secondary 😢 (I know it only costs $12 to add them to your score distribution, but still)

Is UW sending out emails to applicants who have not done CASPer to let them know?I haven’t heard anything from the school since I submitted my app...
I got an email telling me that they couldn't send me a secondary until I took CASPer. I had already taken it but didn't realize that UW needed it, so I just added them to my distribution list. This was the first I'd heard from them since I submitted.

+1

Wow I am such an idiot. I guess I won't get my secondary for 3 weeks.

How does one verify residency? Do I have to send some documents? Or do they just send me an email informing me that I have been verified. I haven't heard anything from them.

Reapplicant here. Last year I had to submit a residency verification package to the Residency Classification Office. With an October MCAT score release, my application wasn’t verified until the day before the deadline :dead:. You cannot submit without the UWSOM request, however, so as of now, I think we just watch and wait.

Secondary received 15 min ago! WWAMI applicant. Verified 7/14. Casper on 6/4.

Does anyone know if UW will pre-secondary reject OOR as they go or they will wait til the end of the cycle?
