can any of the admitted students so far keep an eye on the Facebook class page? so that us that are still in anxiety can know whether a prematch wave happened and we just missed it? 🙁

271 right now, two of which are mods and a solid dozen or perhaps many more being current students. Remember they send >500 acceptances, 494 of which were IS. Be strong classmates

Thanks for the hope man, that helps give me a slim of confidence haha

So the only hope now is match day? I don’t know if i should start studying again for the mcat now or just wait for the match day?

Yeah true. My only issue is that I really didn't want to pay for another MCAT again 😭
Honestly, man, if you're confident that you'll improve your score, it might be worth a retake (assuming you don't match). My retake most likely got a few more interviews this cycle, but even then, idk if the second score is good enough.

"Interviews 3, a doctor you'll be! " says LizzyM. Don't count yourself out yet. Lots of people get their first acceptance on Match Day.
Lol what if you have 2 TMDSAS IIs and 1 AMCAS (all MD)? I interviewed a long time ago. That's where I'm at. I've seen the "3=MD" thing reported a lot, and it seems to have worked anecdotally with my friends in other states, but in Texas it just seems like a wild card these days because I'm seeing some folks with 5-6 IIs through TMDSAS and get no match, with some successful waitlist stories mixed in between.

Hmmm. How long, ideally, do you want to study for the MCAT? Is 3 months enough? A June MCAT is feasible starting the day after Match, if needed. If you want longer than that, I guess you should start, but if that's enough, you're probably okay. I hope you get in!

Oh, I'm not retaking a third time, I think you replied to the wrong comment haha

I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news and who knows is this is a good measure at all, but the fb group seems to have 275 people now (4 more than before). Maybe we missed a wave or maybe some people joined the page late

Some in the Facebook group will be admins, upperclassmen, etc. who are there to answer questions for the newly admitted folks. Don't read anything into this number.

So I get that this Facebook group is for people who prematched. My question is, can anyone who prematched join this page to get information about the school/program?

Or is it only for people who know 100% for sure they’re going to enroll?

I prematched here and I’m interested in joining so I can get more information to help me with my ranking decision, but I’m not sure if it would be appropriate for me to join given the uncertainty of my rank list.

It’s for anyone who’s accepted. If you choose to matriculate elsewhere, you can leave the group with no worries! There’s Med students who posted on there that we could ask them questions. They also post stuff about apartments and student orgs.

Hi everyone. I got accepted to UTMB on Friday, and today I received the email to activate my MySTAR account. I am wondering if this account should only be activated if I know I want to matriculate. I still have another interview coming up and an admissions decision coming this month, so I have not made my final choice yet. However, I was hoping to activate MySTAR and apply for scholarships, as this will definitely be a factor in my possible matriculation. I already accepted the offer in AMP, since it said it was non-binding. Just curious about MySTAR!

Congrats on the acceptance!
Not sure about the answer to your question but do you mind telling us when your interview was?

From what I read on their website, scholarships won't even be open to apply for until March, so you would've already submitted your rank list beforehand. The email did not make it sound as though creating the account was a binding decision. I would go ahead and create the account, at least that is what I am going to do.

Scholarships are open from March 1st-May1st for this cycle

Thank you! At the information session, I thought they said scholarship applications were due in March, but they must have said they open in March. Thanks for the help!

Hi! I got this email and was actually wondering if it was binding as well. Similarly, I have not made my final choice, however, I think it is safe to go ahead and activate the MySTAR. Better be safe than sorry- would hate to miss a deadline.

For those who received the email to set up their mySTAR account, did you guys get the subsequent email with specific information to set up the account?

I am yet to receive that and I'm thinking of calling or emailing admissions to see whats going on. 🙁

They said it could take a few days, I haven't gotten the second email either

I'm wondering if any accepted students have insight on how this semester's grades can affect their decision. I'm struggling with an intense workload this semester, and have seriously been contemplating using my P/F options (UT Austin offers 3 COVID P/F that still count towards your degree) but I'm worried it will make me look bad. Any thoughts? I might be overthinking this. The classes I would most likely use this on are physio lab and maybe physio too depending on how i'm doing later this year.

Do any accepted students have info on how to sign up for preview day? I have not gotten any emails about it.

Hey! I would call admissions asap. They’d be glad to help with that. There’s probably only one day left (for now hopefully) and I think the deadline to register is in a few days. So I’d call and see what’s up. Preview day was fun tho. Great bonding time with a few folks. And you get to appreciate the literally chill vibe of the island and campus.

Hey I’m not 💯 sure how to answer this. But I recall them saying you needed to get at least a C grade in all subsequent classes prior to matriculation. So I would do the best I can to at least get a B or a C. I wouldn’t advice to reach out to admissions to discuss this just so you don’t appear in a different light. regardless your acceptance cannot be rescinded if you ask. You could potentially frame the email to ask if p/f grades would be accepted without giving the whole backstory of what’s going on. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the note! I think I'm just on an anxiety spiral - I appreciate it. I'll wait until grades are more concrete before making any decisions!

Accepting the admissions offer in MyStar at this point couldn't be binding, right?

the email from Monday says in 2 business days we will get MyStar things and I haven't received anything yet. Anybody got anything?

Ahhhhh is this binding?! My mySTAR now says "Intention to Matriculate" after I clicked the accept thing...I was just trying to save my seat

It's ok, take a breath.

You still need to enter your rank list on TMDSAS portal for the Texas Match.
Rank schools how you want them.
You will exit Match Day with one school.

So we don't need to worry about the myStar emails from UTMB until after match day right? (And that's only if we plan to matriculate there?)
