2020-2021 Wayne State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those who also interviewed on 10/16, when do you think we will find out if we were accepted?

I think it’ll be this week. Deff before thanksgiving.

I remember them saying within 4 weeks at our interview day, but do you think there's a good chance it will happen this week? I hope so aha!

For the folks stressing out about being wait listed, just remember: it might not be an acceptance (yet), but it does mean you’re accept-able. Keep your head up.

If we retake the MCAT in January and update Wayne with an update letter and some sort of proof of score, would they still look at the score to give out an II or nah?

For those with IIs, how far can you schedule out for it? As they’ve handed out 1/3 of the IIs already, I wonder if they’re planning to just do 3 large II waves with the next one near the last interview date.

Ie I have a theory. Someone indulge me 🙂

I think they said Sep 27/28 MCAT was last one, but you should check! Do you have a current score?
yup i have a current score and submitted my secondaries back in august but i haven't heard anything back yet. i know it's still kind of early in the cycle for II but just wanted to know if it was possible to potentially update them with a new score

Unfortunately no :/. By January, the cycle is done is pretty much done. A friend of mine called and was told to reapply.

I recently had my interview with Wayne State and I'm wondering if it's common to send thank-you emails to student interviewers?

I only sent one to my faculty interviewer! If you have the student interviewer's e-mail it definitely won't hurt!

Hey guys! So my interview is on Friday, but I was just wondering, did your guy's portal include any info about how we're supposed to log on, and the exact schedule? Mine includes the date and a rough outline of the agenda, but nothing else yet. Thanks!!

Can someone please clarify ORM for me?

Sometimes I get Overrepresented in Medicine and other times I get Overrepresented Minority.

These two definitions are totally different things.

ORM (overrepresented majority) is for if the amount of docs of a certain demographic exceed how many people of that group there are in the population compared to other demographic groups. It’s hard to explain maybe someone can do it better. Ex are white and Asian bc there are a lot of Asian and white doctors compared to how many Asian and white people there are, much more than how many black doctors there are compared to how many black people total there are in the US and same with Hispanic, they are URM (underrepresented minority). Those are the main ones ik

Does anyone know how long Wayne usually sends out post II decisions? They said up to 4 weeks, but I'm hoping it's a bit sooner it actuality lol, loved my time interviewing there! Also, are they receptive to letter of intents?

From what I understand, I think white people are actually proportionally represented. I dont think white people are ORM.

Yes, Wayne takes into consideration LOIs. I would wait a few months after your interview to send one to see if you get accepted or not. Hopefully, though, you sent a thank you letter/email to the faculty and students who interviewed you as that is very much looked at right away

Is there a specific day when they release decisions? And for people that have gotten A's, did it take the full 4 weeks or less?

Is anyone able to comment on the MMI experience? Did the interviewer ask any follow-up questions, or were we expected to be monologing the entire time?

Anyone who submitted their secondary around August 3rd get an II yet? Any canadians get invites yet? Really starting to get worried as this is my top choice.
