2020-2021 Wayne State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Random question but has anyone emailed admissions lately (for any reason) and have they replied lol? Do they take a while to respond to emails?
They aren't the best at responding to e-mails, if you want to know something urgent just go ahead and give them a call. The office staff are really nice about it 🙂

Ah okay, that's reassuring, thank you so much! 🙂

Unfortunately, yep :/. Consider it a soft rejection and prepare for reapplication! Better be prepared by February/march than to wait for an official rejection! Wayne State holds applications till a massive rejection wave in mid-feb. Cross your fingers but better to forget about it for now! If you’ve applied late, you are still in this!

do you know how common it is for schools to not do pre-II R's until the cycle is over? Haven't heard back from many schools so pretty nervous

I know several schools that do this. Check a few of the past SDN school specific threads and they can give you an idea, but several of my favs do this and it's very nerve wracking.

sorry for the dumb question but if I look at other schools' current threads and there's evidence of pre-II R's, that would end up meaning that school doesn't hold rejections till the end like wayne right?

absolutely! Wayne does send pre-II R's sometimes before February but the majority of R's that are sent out occur after they're done interviewing (February)

Is anyone else having trouble logging in to pay the deposit? I was able to set up the password, but I'm not sure what my username is. Did anyone else have this issue, and if so, how did you resolve it???
Wait what deposit

I had an interview at Wayne State earlier this week. They didn't really tell us what to expect on time frame. Does anyone have an idea of when the late Nov/early Dec interviews will get a response (ie. acceptance, waitlist, rejection)?

I interviewed last week as they said their normal turnaround time is 4 weeks, BUT that the holidays are coming up and to please allow them up to 6 weeks with decisions. Hope this helps.

Anyone who interviewed 12/7 (or other interview dates), did they say when we may hear back about admission decisions?

Sooo... I've been complete since mid/late July (cannot remember the exact date) and have not heard anything from Wayne, other than getting an email a few weeks back saying how they are delayed and will get to my application soon. Should I give up hope? I am also an IS applicant.

any current students lurking in here? i was hoping to maybe get a current student's perspective on what they think makes wayne state special compared to other programs?

Congrats to all of you who are accepted! Just curious--did anyone who was accepted off the WL post an update letter or letter of intent?
I did not. To be honest, I didn't think my interview went well at all and I was just considering Wayne State to be a wash.

Did anyone that got off the WL send a letter of intent?
They just spoke about this during the coffee MD series and said it doesn’t hurt at all. So I’d recommend doing this if you have significant updates 🙂

I personally would hold my letter of intent until March-ish, right before significant WL movement in the summer cause you can only send one letter of intent to one top choice school, I’d save it and make it count later

I ended up submitting one to Wayne because I know that they are my top choice school

I haven't gotten this email.

When did they send it out? I'm in state and applied in early October and haven't heard back anything yet.

Yeah I was complete mid-July IS and didn't get that email.
I got that email November 16th. The title of the email said "Thank you for applying to Wayne State University School of Medicine" and I thought it was a rejection email. Ended up being an email talking about how COVID has impacted them, a few things that they as a school pride themselves on, and ending remarks on how they will be in touch soon.

That's good news for you! I didn't get the email, so I think you're lucky and may be getting a II soon.

They usually post in the beginning of the month, and then release those As/II’s throughout the month so I think there might be a II release soon. 🙂

hey guys,
I'm interviewing on Monday. Did you receive an email prior explaining who you'll be interviewing with/the setup up or with a link or something?
How were the MMIs setup, i know 5 stations, but how did it work over zoom?

Best,

Best,
If you log in to the portal the week of your interview it should have the names of your interviewers and links to click on that say "start interview." The day before the interview you'll get an email with a link to a welcome zoom that starts 30 min before your first interview (so for me my first interview started at 1 and the welcome zoom started at 12:30pm, but this will be different if you chose an AM slot). In the welcome zoom they explain in more detail how to go through the logistics of the interviews. Good luck, you got this!!

Were you required to put your camera on for the welcome zoom and did you ask any questions (is it recommended to ask questions during the welcome zoon)?
