2020-2021 Wayne State

Does anyone know if they typically accept internationals (Canadians in particular) toward the end of the cycle? I had a favourable interview and waitlisted literally the day after my interview in December. Silence since then, sent an LOI too...

I was just WL’d as well after interviewing in early February! Does anyone know the post interview acceptance rate for OOS students?

This would be a little surprising in comparison to other schools. Drexel, for example, has a class size of 260 and usually accepts over 800 applicants. Wayne may have a higher yield, but still, waiting until April to send out 200+ acceptances might not be great strategy for their own yield.
Im assuming it’s because they have access to who are planning to commit or not, so they have some sort of idea before accepting more. Honestly though, this cycle has been pretty wild for Wayne, so we will never know haha

so do u think there will be more As this cycle from WL or less?

My pure guess is that they are planning to accept more because they interviewed more. At least they may be expecting a bigger WL movement since there are many super applicants with 5+ acceptances due to interviews being virtual. I honestly don’t think anyone, even the admissions, know what will happen though, but they probably prepared for having to accept more

Just got waitlisted today. How impactful would a letter of intent be right now if it's my top choice and I'm an in-state applicant? My thought is that it's better to have it in ASAP while they still have a higher number of acceptances to give out rather than waiting for movement in March/April. Thoughts?

i agree with this. while a LOI isn't going to make or break your application, I think it's definitely better to have it in earlier

Sorry if it asked before. Is there any other category of the waitlist other than 'alternate' Any insights on what alternate means?

alternate just means WL. they say it's "unranked" so it's just random at this point and when your file gets reviewed

interviewed in mid jan and still no decision. anyone in same boat?

Hang in there guys, that's a lot of offers going out, hope it goes out to you guys, you deserve it! 🙂

On a side note, has anyone that completed the background check seen it reflected in their portal? Mine still has not been updated

soooo.... yall knew it was coming but.... what we expecting today LMAOOOOO
I was just thinking that at this point it's so random that I wouldn't be surprised if we see like 1 or 2 As a day or even nothing at all. Like if we thought there was some sort of pattern before... there's nothing now lol
