2020-2021 Wayne State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just got one, too, friend. 🙁

Primary sent 9/24
Secondary received 9/25
Secondary submitted 9/30
Politely rejected 11/19

IS, currently doing my master's here. LM ~64.
All those care reacts got me with a tear in my eye. :bigtears: I’m going to miss this thread. What incredible, fine folks you all are. There’s a place for all of us. It’s still early in this battle. Don’t lose hope!!!

Same, I literally got a reapplicant appointment and the advisor didn't know what to tell me.(3.92 GPA, 511 MCAT, lots of clinical volunteering at local hospitals) I know a few people inside the adcom and I've been told that your file depends on one screener. If this person has screened his stack of applicants and doesn't think that you are good enough, well, they usually drag you along till February to give you that rejection. Best advice is to include updates because the screener gets a notification for every update. So that could increase your chance of your screener to revisit your app!

Are you ORM minority?

Has anybody else from 10/16 not heard back yet on a post II decision?

What is Wayne's acceptance post-interview? Also does anyone know why they waitlist so many good candidates? lmao I know multiple people with 520 MCATs and publications getting waitlisted

I have heard they believe 520s will choose other schools, but thats just words. My friend got 517 and was waitlisted until the last few weeks before matriculation

Am I absolutely nuts for WANTING a rejection email at this point? I've been complete since like, end of July, and have had SILENCE ever since. Nothing new appeared in my inbox.

Historically, it looks like they had a 50% post II acceptance rate, at least for IS ( idk if its different for OOS). That could be different this time around since they are probably rejecting more earlier and WL less people in general ( from information session on interview day).

For anyone who received an interview, do you mind sharing your stats? I'm curious if my stats were too low or if it had to do something with my letters of rec, etc. Based on MSAR, I thought I had a chance for consideration

Wayne is definitely looking for fit, they recently added a new category (service to under-resourced urban populations) for how they select candidates. Also they know 520's will probably have multiple A's and I'm sure if high stat applicants sent a LOI post waitlist they can definitely grab an A once WL movement starts!

Not necessarily, no one knows the in's and out's of the admissions process but you aren't rejected until your rejected. People receive IIs in January after being complete in July so don't count yourself out yet!
YES this is so true! the mentioned this at their open house and in other info sessions. they review apps late because they have a Canadian border friendly policy or something

this is so true. I know multiple people at my school who got invites and had lower MCAT scores (below a 505) but had an excellent background that tied into their entire mission statement. i think they're emphasizing that a lot more now as part of their holistic review process

Congrats!! Did you get it just now?
At 1:30 PST!
that's so sus they probably added it last minute. when I was booking mine all I saw were January slots
Interesting, I clicked around before confirming and saw nothing in January either. Fortunately my schedule is wide open lol. Based on what people are saying here it maybe has to do with my background.

Did you happen to receive an email with the subject line congrats future warrior md earlier this week? Sorry to hear about the waitlist
Yeah I think I got one on Monday about speaking with current students

What were people saying about the background stuff?
