2020-2021 Wayne State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Y'all need to remember that this SDN thread is not representative of all applicants. If there are only 4 acceptances given out on a day, the odds are that those 4 people might not be SDN users which is why this thread thinks the tracker is delayed
true but you would probably suspect that at least once someone here would get an acceptance on the same day that the tracker changes... but I don't think that has happened

Any word if they're still sending out II? I have been complete since August and some people said they stopped yet others said they are still sending them.

i think it is most likely premature bc there was also an increase of IIs with not a single mention on here. Also in past years, students have said it was premature. If we're correct when do u guys think they'll release them?

I really don't understand how they pull from the waitlist if it is not ranked...does anybody know? Is it just random drawing out of a hat?
So the way the adcom member explained it to me last year was that its based on the type of applicant. For example: Imagine two applicants,

Applicant A has a 504 MCAT, 3.7 GPA, lots of clinical volunteering, specifically with leadership, but no research.
Applicant B has a 508 MCAT, 3.9 GPA, not a lot of volunteering or leadership, but lots of research and publications.

If a person who has a similar application to that of Applicant 1 decided to decline their acceptance, then the next person they would choose on the waitlist would be Applicant A. If it was a person with a high MCAT/GPA/Research that decides to decline then Applicant B. This ensures that the "diversity" of the class would stay pretty fixed.

Hope that helps!

Did he explain why some people are waitlisted very quickly and others take a while before being waitlisted?

Yeah guys I know WL sucks (I’m there with you), but like 80% of people I know who go there were initially WL. That’s just how Wayne does it’s admissions. They tend to WL people first before eventually accepting. Also with covid, people attend all their IIs, so it’s quite possible someone who got an A here isnt actually too interested in attending. We got this❤️

Hey anyone can give me more info on the BMS program? Is it a good program to get accepted?

love all the positivity in this group!! Still silent, but let’s hope they release those As soon. It might be next week tho since they alr released a week ago? But it’d be so nice to know today😍

trying my best to manifest for today but if not I'm feeling pretty confident in next week

Any MD/PhD applicants here? I'm wondering what this 2nd MD/PhD interview means since I've never seen it happen in past cycles. Do you think they only gave them to people who were approved by the MD committee?

At this point decisions feel so random lmao 😂 I doubt we can truly predict anything. Also, if they have ~20 more A’s to send out surely we would have seen more posts on here. But here’s to hoping for more positive news for all of us

Do u think it might not all be at once maybe? But yeah it’s truly unpredictable:/

Can any current students comment on how they study to do well at Wayne State? Any useful study tips/methods? Also what would a typical day look like for you? Thanks, I really appreciate it! 🙂

I honestly believe that they're going to be sending out more A's to people on the WL very soon. Don't get discouraged!
Thank you for coming back here and letting us know you were accepted! Light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂

For anyone who interviewed in the morning session, is it just the 3 interviews back to back and no info session? what time were you done?

for the morning session, it's usually done by 12:30 because they have afternoon interviews
it's a welcome session in the morning (8:30) and then a session after you're done all your interviews.

Anyone have any idea as to when they could be sending more II's? It seems the last time II's were sent out was 12/14 and the tracker has updated by 61 II's since then.
