I think earlier on this thread someone posted that when someone doesn't accept, they choose someone off the WL with a similar app. For example, if someone with a 508 MCAT with 1000s of service hours doesn't accept, they'll look for someone else like that over someone with a 518 MCAT with little service but many publications. I think they said that this preserves the diversity of the class or something

the stars kind of have to align for you to get in it seems
 
For those accepted, are there any other requirements to complete financial aid application besides submitting FAFSA? For those who are in-state, is there a separate application or something we need to submit? I am trying to find out from their emails but haven’t found the info.

I'm not 100% sure but I am almost positive that they said they would waitlist 600-650 people so that's why I assumed you meant WLers by the 650

I'm pretty sure there's a mistake in this doc; Wayne accepted around 770 people last cycle. If you go to last year's thread there's screenshots of the tracker where the number accepted is over 700

They made 572 admission offers altogether.

Edit: I just checked last year thread and it does look like tracker showed 700+ admission offered. Tbh, I don't know which source to trust.

Have there been any Jan/Feb interviewees who got accepted without being placed on the waitlist first? :/

Yeah it’s really confusing lol. My guess would be the 700+ because in last years thread it reached the 500s and what other reason is there for the number to continually increase & reach the 700s? Idk 😅

Trad ORM OOS with family ties to school/area. 516 and 3.79. 1 clinical/research gap year, good research, decent service, good leadership,

I sent a thank you with a brief "letter of interest" after my interview, not sure if that helped but I doubt it hurt. If you do write, definitely would mention WSU's commitment to diversity- blew me away at the interview and it was obviously genuine. Was quite impressed. They even have "community partners" from all different trades and backgrounds conducting their MMIs rather than faculty.
 
*cries as a low stat waitlisted ORM applicant* honestly though, I noticed from past cycles that many waitlisted apps who were accepted rather quickly were mostly high stats. Don't blame Wayne for that, but I do believe in their mission and holistic admissions, so we shall see.... :')

I actually emailed it to the admissions email (like I said it was brief). At our interview we asked how to contact our interviewers to thank them and the admissions team said they would forward it if we sent them the thank yous in a PDF. I think you’re supposed to use the portal though haha.
 
so second look day is April 9th from 4-5 pm (under events on the admissions page). Can people who are WL attend (hopefully many of us on here will have secured the A by then)?

Last year, second look was only for invited people for some reason

i dont think anyone knows when the committee meets. the document that everyone references for committee meeting schedules isn't even for the admissions committee I don't think
 
I've read in some places that WSU is a P/F school, but I've also heard that it's not really because of the honors option. Some people said that it's fairly easy to get honors and there's no limit to how many students can do it. Also something about an internal ranking? Can someone elaborate on this. Is having honors/ranking at your med school a good or bad thing when it comes to applying for residencies?

the ranking itself isnt bad i dont think. i mean, its better if there isn't one at all (IMO). but the most important thing is if the school gives your ranking to residency program directors. not sure if wayne does this. but these are all good questions that I'd be curious to know as well
 
Not a medical student, but in one of my interviews a medical student mentioned their internal ranking was only in place to award honors and no one involved in residency applications could see it. Instead, they could just see the Pass vs Fail grade or Honors/Pass/Fail grade.
 
Does anyone know the start date for M1s (the first date we need to be there)? Trying to plan ahead and having trouble finding it on the website - I saw courses last year started July 13. Thanks!

Same. Though looking at last year’s thread, Wayne accepted less than 10 people (who reported on SDN) during March and April. They’re probably waiting for people to withdraw acceptances/WL positions at this point, so we’ll probably see the most movement in May onwards :/
