They said they dont do ranked WL, then they review all 1000+ WLs to pull them out for A every time? That sounds crazy.omg i really hope so
nope! very rare. if they gave more Rs i'd feel a little better about being on the WL

I think earlier on this thread someone posted that when someone doesn't accept, they choose someone off the WL with a similar app. For example, if someone with a 508 MCAT with 1000s of service hours doesn't accept, they'll look for someone else like that over someone with a 518 MCAT with little service but many publications. I think they said that this preserves the diversity of the class or somethingThey said they dont do ranked WL, then they review all 1000+ WLs to pull them out for A every time? That sounds crazy.

Med school asks what makes you unique. But being on wayne WL, I hope I'm not unique lol.the stars kind of have to align for you to get in it seems

I'm not 100% sure but I am almost positive that they said they would waitlist 600-650 people so that's why I assumed you meant WLers by the 650Sorry should’ve been more clear! I meant there were planning on 650 As. And there Are 1000 people who didn’t get As so 200/1000 (it’s probably less than 1000 though because of the possible R’s and people who voluntarily left the WL)
Based on interview tracker and the fact the wayne doesn't do post-II R's (with rare exception).
Edit: prolly not 1k+, but very close to 1k.
Based on the data on this doc, Wayne accepted around 560 applicants altogether including people who got off the waitlist:
Check out wayne's class profile here: https://www.med.wayne.edu/admissions/application/class-profilesI'm pretty sure there's a mistake in this doc; Wayne accepted around 770 people last cycle. If you go to last year's thread there's screenshots of the tracker where the number accepted is over 700
Yes. I interviewed in Feb and was accepted without being waitlistedHave there been any Jan/Feb interviewees who got accepted without being placed on the waitlist first? :/
damn this is interesting, wonder whats causing the discrepancy. maybe not all those 700+ accepted their placeCheck out wayne's class profile here: https://www.med.wayne.edu/admissions/application/class-profiles
They made 572 admission offers altogether.

Edit: I just checked last year thread and it does look like tracker showed 700+ admission offered. Tbh, I don't know which source to trust.

Haven't decided yet!Congratulations. Where are you planning to go?
Yeah it’s really confusing lol. My guess would be the 700+ because in last years thread it reached the 500s and what other reason is there for the number to continually increase & reach the 700s? Idk 😅Check out wayne's class profile here: https://www.med.wayne.edu/admissions/application/class-profiles

Best of luck to all still waiting! For those who got off the WL, do you mind sharing your stats?
3.8 GPA, 510 MCAT 🙂For those who got off the WL, do you mind sharing your stats?
same *cries as a low stat waitlisted URM applicant * hoping for some good news this month for many of us*cries as a low stat waitlisted ORM applicant* honestly though, I noticed from past cycles that many waitlisted apps who were accepted rather quickly were mostly high stats. Don't blame Wayne for that, but I do believe in their mission and holistic admissions, so we shall see.... :')

When you say sent in, do you mean uploaded to the AMP?Best of luck to all still waiting!
Trad ORM OOS with family ties to school/area. 516 and 3.79. 1 clinical/research gap year, good research, decent service, good leadership,
I sent a thank you with a brief "letter of interest" after my interview, not sure if that helped but I doubt it hurt. If you do write, definitely would mention WSU's commitment to diversity- blew me away at the interview and it was obviously genuine. Was quite impressed. They even have "community partners" from all different trades and backgrounds conducting their MMIs rather than faculty.
yup! When you say sent in, do you mean uploaded to the AMP?
I actually emailed it to the admissions email (like I said it was brief). At our interview we asked how to contact our interviewers to thank them and the admissions team said they would forward it if we sent them the thank yous in a PDF. I think you’re supposed to use the portal though haha. When you say sent in, do you mean uploaded to the AMP?
Last year, second look was only for invited people for some reasonso second look day is April 9th from 4-5 pm (under events on the admissions page). Can people who are WL attend (hopefully many of us on here will have secured the A by then)?
i dont think anyone knows when the committee meets. the document that everyone references for committee meeting schedules isn't even for the admissions committee I don't thinkIs the next Committee meeting tomorrow or next week?
Oh, I see. Thank you!i dont think anyone knows when the committee meets. the document that everyone references for committee meeting schedules isn't even for the admissions committee I don't think
Congratulations and good luck! Can you share your stats please?Withdrawing my spot from here. Hope it goes to one of you guys!
fingers crossed 🙂Fingers crossed that they’re meeting today! Been silent for a while :/
Was there anything we had to do for financial aid besides FAFSA?Received the second look email. Financial aid comes out starting 4/1.
the ranking itself isnt bad i dont think. i mean, its better if there isn't one at all (IMO). but the most important thing is if the school gives your ranking to residency program directors. not sure if wayne does this. but these are all good questions that I'd be curious to know as wellI've read in some places that WSU is a P/F school, but I've also heard that it's not really because of the honors option. Some people said that it's fairly easy to get honors and there's no limit to how many students can do it. Also something about an internal ranking? Can someone elaborate on this. Is having honors/ranking at your med school a good or bad thing when it comes to applying for residencies?
On Wayne State Admission Standards and Expectations for Admitted Students it says July 6, 2021, though subject to change.Does anyone know the start date for M1s (the first date we need to be there)? Trying to plan ahead and having trouble finding it on the website - I saw courses last year started July 13. Thanks!
me me mewhat other WLer is starting to get stressed now and losing hope lol ripp..
Same. Though looking at last year’s thread, Wayne accepted less than 10 people (who reported on SDN) during March and April. They’re probably waiting for people to withdraw acceptances/WL positions at this point, so we’ll probably see the most movement in May onwards :/what other WLer is starting to get stressed now and losing hope lol ripp..
tonight i got the email 8:40 centralWhere did you find this out?
