2021-2022 Howard

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have an interview coming up very soon at this school and I have a few questions for those who have already been interviewed and were accepted.

- Was it an intense interview or did it feel conversational?
- Did you have one interview or two? Did they tell you the names of your interviewers beforehand?
- What's your best advice on how to prep for the interview?

Thank you in advance!
Mine was very conversational. He even started the interview by saying "this is just a conversation. We invited you to interview because on paper we already like you."
It was one interview and they just throw you into a private breakout room with one of the interviewers.
I would say do a practice interview beforehand if possible just s you can work on formulating responses. But be calm and be yourself, they just want to see who you are and if you can hold a conversation.

I got an email today from Howard just telling me they have reviewed my primary and secondary application, but no II or R. Does anyone know what that means? Like they just want me to know they've reviewed me but they don't know what to do with me yet lol. Has this happened to anyone?

M1 here.

1. my interview was not intense at all but it all depends on the interviewer so be prepared for that
2. I only had one interviewer and they didn’t say who it was beforehand
3. To prep for the interview i would say know why you want to be a doctor, why Howard, know a little about what’s going on in healthcare and healthcare disparity, exhibit a passion for serving the underserved, and know your application (be able to talk about ANYTHING you’ve mentioned in your app)

same here a while ago. Not quite sure what it means yet

It just means they're reviewed your application and that you're eligible to receive a II sometime in the future. Doesn't mean you will receive one, just means that the committee has had a first pass at your application.

-My interview was extremely conversational but that may depend on who interviews you.
-It was only one interviewer and you do not know who it will be until they assign you to a breakout room
-I prepped using the questions found on howard's interview profile here on SDN and reviewed my secondary application.

ALSO: about an hour before the zoom starts, they send you supplemental questions to answer that kinda also feels like a secondary application.

Hello everyone! I'm not sure if this was answered, but does Howard accept update letters before an interview? Or is it just post-interview letters of interest? I know some schools only do the latter. Thanks so much!

they do! they just ask it be of actual substance and if its like a new job/ research position that you be in it for a couple of months before updating them

Hey did anyone receive this? What should I expect?

We have received and reviewed your AMCAS Primary and Secondary Applications for admission consideration for the M.D. degree program at Howard University's College of Medicine. Although we are aware students are currently in the process of completing their prerequisites, and having at least 2 Science, Math, or Research Instructor Letters of Recommendation or Committee Letters submitted on their behalf; please be advised, that should you be missing pre-requisite coursework or a required Letter of Recommendation, they should be received no later than July 1, 2022. Also, any outstanding pre-requisite courses must have a letter grade in the "C" range (C+ to C-) to be considered a satisfied requirement and completed no later than spring or first summer sessions to be considered for admission in July 2022.

got that a while ago. So it seems like howard reviews apps and then sends that email but then reviews them again for interview?
