Every lab is going to vary tremendously by PI, team, subject matter, luck, etc. It can be a challenge to find the right fit for you at any institution sometimes. If those labs are already all in your main area of interest then it may be tough to find a better fit at UM, but if you're planning to pursue different avenues of research you might have better luck with different teams. I can't compare to UF or USF but I will say that overall there's lots of research opportunities here and myself and many of my classmates have been able to be very productive.Went to undergrad here so I have a general idea of the superior research funding by the NIH. However, I had a fairly negative and unproductive experience working in a few of the labs, which leads me to the question: how do the research opportunities here compare to that of UF COM and USF Morsani? Asking because I would like to emphasize research during my time in medical school and plan on focusing on academic medicine.
