2021-2022 Wayne State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I applied MD/PhD initially so I needed to wait on the decision for that program before I could get an MD-only decision. Trust me, I had my insanity moments here and there wondering why I wasn’t hearing back at all from the MD committee when I interviewed so early 😂

Also, I saw mentions of sushi earlier in this thread and like, yes, I am down for sushi in July if I get accepted cause there’s nothing this girl loves better 😍😍😍
Yes i believe the sushi squad started on page 27 of this years thread lol, i hope we all get to act on it in july! Side note: i tried sushi for the first time last week and I have for sure been MISSING OUT im definitely a fangirl now 😂😍

Has Wayne State already given out all their acceptances? Will the only WL movement be from other students turning down their As?

Yeah - most people that interviewed in 2022 were waitlisted. good news though - aamc data suggests a few hundred As are given out to WL applicants (roughly half the waitlist). so the odds are pretty good compared to most other WL situations.

I don’t want to sound untrusting, but can you point me in the direction of your source for this. It sounds too good to be true and I don’t want to get my hopes up (WL’d in late Feb)

All good.

Another thing (although far less certain) is that WL movement might happen this Friday. In years past April 1st has been when they notify people.

Edit: The WL movement on Friday is cap lol. Just checked myself and i dont see that trend besides last year.

I don't think they are following any trends because I thought there was typically movement in early March... which didn't appear to happen.

they’ve already accepted 200 people over the class size so I think there was waitlist movement just not all at once

Last night I finally got the rejection from the only other school that interviewed me this cycle (WashU, interviewed Nov 16). It was a long wait, and it certainly hurt a bit to get that rather cold rejection email. LM 76, WARS > 90. I applied to 35 schools, got 2 interview invites, and now I guess a WL at Wayne is the only hope for this cycle I got left. Not sure why I’m sharing all this, but it feels a bit better to put this out here

We’re in the endgame now. I’m just trying to stay optimistic. Hopefully it will work out for all of us. If not today, then maybe next week, or even next month, or, hell, maybe next cycle. Who knows, but we should all keep our heads held high and push forward. We all got this!

Yes im also hoping for the best! This is my second cycle applying and I only applied to around 8 schools this cycle as a last ditch effort since I was late due to personal reasons (retook MCAT, very close family member died of COVID, started a masters program in a completely new state, etc), but the wait is honestly so hard bc the WL gives me hope but idk how much hope to have :/

Also sharing really does help, we're all in this together

Similar situation. I applied to 11 schools and Wayne was the only one that interviewed me. This truly is my last option. But all it takes is one, so let’s hope for the best!

Honestly, it's inspiring to be reading your posts and how, despite personal and/or professional setbacks, you keep fighting to reach your goals. At the end of the day, this perseverance, determination, and dedication will make all of you great physicians, NOT when or where you attended med schools. I think this goes for all of us: don't give up. It's only a matter of time. We will hopefully be looking back at this with a good laugh

This will make us good and empathetic physicians one day

Hey, I was wondering if anyone ended up getting financial aid information today? Just want to make sure I'm not the only one waiting.
Basically I just logged into academia and selected 2022-23 aid year, but nothing appeared. Idk if there's another place I should be looking.
Thanks in advance!

Nope I’ve looked there too and checked the mail bc they mentioned something will be sent in the mail as well. I think they may be behind on financial aid and taking people off of the WL

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll be sure to check the mail too.

I wanna say im manifesting As for all of us on the WL tomorrow, but at this point I don't even have it in myself to actually believe it lol 😢
Just gotta manifest that positive energy! Hopefully we can all meet after this and have a good laugh about it.

“Reapplying to become a Warrior MD” Day is April 14, so hopefully they do the waitlist movement before then. If not, I guess I’ll see y’all there 😂

Hey guys I know it’s a difficult time of waiting right now but we’re so close to the end of this waiting process! I know it’s frustrating but this is a competitive process and they’re probably trying their best to predict how many seats are left and I think with AAMC trafficking day, they’ll have a better estimate of how many acceptances they can give out to fill their class. We just have a little more time to wait and just have to stay hopeful! We got this let’s keep manifesting!
