Hey guys I know it’s a difficult time of waiting right now but we’re so close to the end of this waiting process! I know it’s frustrating but this is a competitive process and they’re probably trying their best to predict how many seats are left and I think with AAMC trafficking day, they’ll have a better estimate of how many acceptances they can give out to fill their class. We just have a little more time to wait and just have to stay hopeful! We got this let’s keep manifesting!
When is trafficking day. Is that May 1 (when everyone who has acceptances narrows/picks)?

So since it’s still radio silence on the WL (also had some sushi for lunch today, so I thought of you guys) I just wanted to send some positive vibes to everyone.

You all have made this thread feel like an actual community. I can’t speak for anyone else here, but knowing I’m not going through this process of waiting and hoping alone has made me feel a LOT better and helped keep me sane these long few months (interviewed 10/29, WL 11/8, no other II’s). Seeing how incredibly resilient people here are has been an inspiration to me to keep pushing forward, and I know all of you are going to make incredible physicians whether you attend Wayne this year, somewhere else, or reapply. No matter how the path forward winds, we’re all going to make it to the end eventually and achieve our goals.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Hi guys, I’m currently waitlisted. I attended the second look webinar today and asked when the waitlist movement will happen in the chat. They replied that they don’t expect to give out any acceptances until May 2nd, since that’s when applicants narrow their choices down to one medical school acceptance.

Oouuch…. Thanks for asking regardless!

This is painful. Butttt at least this will deter me from neurotically checking my email every 2 hours for the rest of the month! Guess it’s time to start asking for new letters of recommendation in the meantime 🙃

How did you know about the second look webinar? Can anyone attend? Is there another one?

When you visit the admissions website they put up the events they have in the future. Keep in mind that sometimes they put up events only a week prior so it may be helpful to keep checking. As far as I know, there is only one second look event. Here is the link: https://www.med.wayne.edu/admissions/events

any other waitlisted students here got accepted into a D.O school ? and if so are you going with that acceptance or applying next year for an M.D ? Having a tough time making that decision and would love some insight.
I have an acceptance to one the original 5 DO schools and I’m gladly matriculating this fall if I don’t get in to any in state med schools I’m waitlisted at. The process is crazy and not worth applying for again if you got in somewhere either way you become a doctor, congrats on the acceptance! Just my opinion tho.

I'm in the same boat as you; 1 DO acceptance and 3 MD waitlists. I'm a reapplicant, so I will gladly take my DO offer if it's my only option, but it's up to you! Do what feels right for you financially and for your well-being.

Anyone know what the attire will be for the Reapplying to Become a Warrior M.D. session on Thursday?
Because I'm going to be calling in during my lunch break while at work, so I'll be wearing scrubs

I've heard that if you press ctrl+w at the same time on your Wayne portal an acceptance letter appears!

Did anyone confirm that substantial waitlist movement will happen on May 2nd or are we just speculating?

Hey guys—I just sent an email to [email protected] to withdraw my A, but then got a email that said "Thank you for contacting SOM admissions" in the title but then "Thank you for contacting the office of student financial aid" in the body. Just want to make sure I sent my withdraw email to the correct email and not to financial aid, if anyone who has already withdrawn can confirm, I don't want to be holding up a spot due to email confusion

You’re good. I got the same email when I withdrew from my A, you should get a follow up email in the next few business days to confirming your withdrawal.

Does anyone know when financial aid is usually disbursed? Like how long before school starts. It's been a while since I've been in school so I can't remember, but I'm trying to plan accordingly.

For the folks who turned down their A, is it just because you got into a more prestigious school? Or is there something you didn’t like about Wayne State?

Does anyone know if the financial aid package will include both need-based and merit-based scholarships?

Does anyone know if Wayne State will give more financial aid? Only got some governer's board scholarship (not much at all) and loans.

Did they email you about it today or did you just check the portal? I haven’t received anything yet

Check the portal!

does anyone know if the scholarship we got we get every year or do we have to reapply each year?

Just checked my fin aid portal and I also got a gov scholarship + loans. That COA has me seeing stars…my existing undergrad debt is crying rn

In the same boat here 😕 Saw this on the website "The School of Medicine Scholarship Committee will notify recipients in summer/early fall" regarding the school's private scholarships, but it seems weird that they wouldn't release this info for incoming M1s before the April 30th deadline...

Absolutely nothing wrong with Wayne State! But the school I’ll be matriculating at gave me the most money/ended up being the cheapest out of all my A’s and is also a T10.

anyone know if the board of gov scholarship is renewable every year or if its just for the first year?

They said it's for the first 2 years

Hi everyone, sorry if this is not the right place to ask, but I will be applying EDP to Wayne state this upcoming cycle as a Canadian and was just wondering if there is anyone out there willing to guide me as I am quite lost and have no one to ask 🙁

Some questions I'm struggling with....should I be emailing WSU regarding my interest in applying EDP or is that frowned upon? is it stupid of me to be applying EDP esp as an OOS Canadian? how can I maximize my shots at getting into Wayne state?

If anyone can dm me/answer my qs I would be very appreciative...thank you!

If Wayne probably isn't going to give out Acceptances until May 2nd and beyond, how does it work with only being able to have 1 Acceptance after April 30th?
