2022-2023 George Washington

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just checked the portal and am on hold. Is GW hold like a soft R or is everyone on hold before an II?
No. When I applied I was put on hold from July-November, got an II at the end of November, interviewed December and got accepted February.

I knew people who interviewed before me without holds who got waitlisted, and I interviewed much later and got in without a waitlist. So the hold is really not indicative of your application and more so the fact that most years GW has the most number of apps.

- MS2 who spent a lot of neurotic energy trying to figure this out 2 (3???? time is weird in med school lol) years ago and still knows nothing about the application review process

Hold 10/4. No email, just checked portal. Complete 9/1. OOS LM 68

Is anyone's status still reading complete that submitted and was complete around 8/26? I haven't had any movement.

Just checked my status (submitted 9/5) and it says. Hopefully there will be some news soon. Does anyone know why they wait to send out the formal II? Is it because they're still trying to plan out available dates?
Your file has been reviewed and you will receive a formal invitation by email about how to schedule a virtual interview. Until the time the formal invitation is sent, there is nothing additional you must do.

For those who have interviewed, could you share what the day + the interview was like?
I went to the interviewee in person event yesterday (optional) and interviewed via zoom today. The event is worth going to if feasible (because the virtual interview is just that - a 25-30 min interview without any presentations from the admissions office). We had a presentation from the Dean of Diversity and Inclusion, the financial department, and the Dean of Admissions. A tour was given of the anatomy lab, library, and simulation areas. There was also a medical student panel/Q&A session. The students seemed genuinely happy and were great at answering any questions.

I really loved my interview today. I interviewed with a faculty member who was extremely nice, professional, and warm. The interview was more conversational and she asked standard interview questions.

Do they have this event before each interview date? And if so, do they email you about it some time before your interview? Would love to go!

I know they host several in-person interviewee days. If you’re selected for an interview, they will email you with an invitation I believe. It is not always the day before your interview. Some people there had already interviewed and others had upcoming interviews.

Found out just now I'm on hold through the portal but no email notifications. Check your portals often!

Does anyone know when we can expect to hear back our admissions decisions? I interviewed late September. Also, would it be a call or email?

I saw there are only 4 black people at GW out of a class of 130 something thats wild.
I'm curious where you got this data because

a) we have 180 students in my class

b) I can list more than 4 black students

Not saying we’re perfect at diversity but definitely not that bad, at least in my class.

i get an II last week but have not received any email yet..does anyone know how long it takes to get the scheduling email?

Interviewed yesterday. When do you all think GW will start sending out decisions? I know online they say rolling.

they send you a date and you have to confirm it by emailing them back
Yup, you can reschedule if you need. My date is a couple of months out so it looks like scheduling will be rough. Also took me about two weeks to get the email after seeing the II in my portal

does gw have a low post interview acceptance rate? I feel like i see conflicting information

I wonder if GW will post acceptances on their portal before emailing applicants. Has that happened to anyone before?

When is GW sending out decisions for those who interviewed already? Last year it was oct 15

hey, I was scrolling through and my portal says this too. does that mean I should 100% be expecting an ii soon or nah? Idk what that means exactly and I'm hella neurotic rn. it also does not show me when it updated my status so idk how long its been since it changed from complete to that.

I haven't heard of anyone who's had this message and not gotten an II. For me, it took about 1-1.5 weeks before I got my II after that message in the portal.

gotcha. is it possible to know when they updated it so I have some idea as to when I should be receiving this email? like I happened to randomly check last night bc I saw on sdn how it updates in the portal first.

Hold for re-review. I'm not sure when my portal changed to this. Complete 9/5. OOS.

I got the II the Monday after I noticed this on my portal. I think at least one other poster had a similar experience.
