2022-2023 George Washington

how late did you interview last time? I didn't know that interviewing late mattered that much
Early March.

It's difficult to say if interviewing later has an impact on your chances since it's school-dependent. Some schools do make you fight for a spot in the waitlist if you interview later. Some schools get pickier the later into the cycle it goes.

GWU directly accepts late interviewees, but based on how I viewed my own candidacy at that time, the late interview being my first and only one felt like an uphill battle for me.

I searched around the 2021-2022 GWU thread and discovered that quite a lot of people received IIs around this time last year that were on hold. Keep your heads up! There is still hope!
Gosh I need this soooo badly. I am so lucky to have an acceptance, but my partner told me yesterday that he wouldn’t be willing to move that far anymore (for a very good reason but still 🥺). I am on hold and really really hoping for an II from GW🤞

Edit: sorry for oversharing but I’m really trying to manifest this lol

I hope things work out here for you as the cycle continues!

So I interviewed two weeks ago and I thought now it would be appropriate to give my thoughts.

I'm also not sure if there is an NDA that I unknowingly signed, so I'm going to be very general here

The interview was incredibly rapid fire. One question after the other. It really does depend on the interviewer.

So I was waitlisted (sigh I know) after thinking my interview went amazingly (super conversational and chill). Looking back, I realized my interviewer spoke more than I did. After I answered the first question, they were super excited and went on about how I was a strong fit for 10 minutes and even answered my "Why GW?" question for me (they named the programs and initiatives I was a strong fit for). I honestly feel that them talking most of the time prevented me from sharing more about who I was and my "why," which probably resulted in my WL. So I recommend that folsk find ways to show themselves more in their interview, whether it is filled with rapid fire questions, super conversational, or mainly the interviewer speaking.

Sorry to hear that! When was your interview date?

Has anyone who interviewed around 10/13 received a decision yet?

I absolutely agree with this comment. Very very true.

Do they notify you regardless of being waitlisted/accepted/rejected? Like did you receive an email that there was a status change
They emailed me saying I was on the alternate list. It didnt say "there was a status change..." if that's what you're asking.

I think there are a million reasons why someone gets waitlisted, and sometimes it's just luck being that they simply have a set number of acceptances to give out. So I would definitely not be too hard on yourself especially since the interview went well and obviously your interviewer really connected with you.

Does GW put the majority of applicants on hold before making a decision on whether to reject them or send an Ii?

Pre-II R. Didn't get an email about a hold, but was complete end of July/early August

best of luck to you! they don’t email about pre-II holds, i found out that i was on hold by checking the portal

Has it taken anyone more than 8 weeks to hear back after interviewing? I’m about to hit 8 weeks early next week. Trying to be patient, but I’m very excited about this school so it’s hard to stay chill!

Oh gosh, I feel so greedy. Here I am pulling my hair out since I haven't heard back after 5 weeks! I hope you hear good news soon, friend! You got this!!!

Interviewed 10/25. When can I expect a decision? Thanks 🙏🏼

They say 6-8 weeks, but for some people its been less for other people 8 weeks. I interviewed 10/13 and have not heard back yet.
Thanks so much. It sure is hard waiting
