Ms. Williams-Folkes, I am still waiting for my interview invite. I've pushed the goal-line to Christmas. Please give me the gift of an interview for Christmas. 🤣
When i applied last year they sent an e-mail out around mid December (and it scared the crap out of me because I thought it was an II :'( ) saying they'd be closed December 17, 2021-January 2, 2022 and that application reviews would be delayed by 4 weeks.Does anyone know when the admissions office close for the holiday season and resume in January?
Ok, thanks for the info. When i applied last year they sent an e-mail out around mid December (and it scared the crap out of me because I thought it was an II :'( ) saying they'd be closed December 17, 2021-January 2, 2022 and that application reviews would be delayed by 4 weeks.
So I think we should expect a similar e-mail sometime this month with the exact time frame.
Yes they doDoes Howard accept LOI's or updates?
2025 I thinkIt's really giving interview invites are gonna be sent in 2023.
email them. They verified a day after or so that they received my update letterDoes anyone know where we should send updates? I can't seem to find a place for uploads on the application portal. I've emailed admissions a couple days ago and called admissions today, but no response
Thank you!email them. They verified a day after or so that they received my update letter
I went! It was good! We had a few presentations and a tour of the school! Are any accepted students going to the first Second Look session today? I think December 9 was the first available one
Can you tell us how it goes?
Thanks for the response!I went! It was good! We had a few presentations and a tour of the school!
Current student (M3), not on here much thanks to clinical hours, but whatcha trying to know? Thanks for the response!
What did the presentations cover? And did they give out any physical stuff, like say flyers, with more info on the school?
I'm asking because there's stuff I want to learn about this school but unfortunately their website as up to date I'd like it to be
Hey, thank you in advance!!Current student (M3), not on here much thanks to clinical hours, but whatcha trying to know?
YesI got the "AMCAS Application Reviewed" slightly over a month ago and still received no II/Pre-II R. Is this normal?
Is it potentially a bad thing? Have people gotten IIs after that long from the update?
I have no idea tbh. I know lots of people in this forum are still waiting, including myself. I got same email on October 12th. We can only hope for the best.Is it potentially a bad thing? Have people gotten IIs after that long from the update?
1. What specifics were you looking to get? I don’t have the match document, but they did share it in a meeting and the match results were very good. Pretty much everyone matched.Hey, thank you in advance!!
1) Do you guys know anything about the match results for Class of 2022? The website only shows c/o 2021 and even at First Friday, they only share 2021 match data. I know matching is primarily up to ourselves based on how hard we work, but i was just curious
2) With the Honors/Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading scale, did you find it stressful to stay on top of studies back in your preclinical years?
3) How are remediation policies? Do you feel they are fair?
4) Any specific dress codes to follow while attending classes? Like general class dress code, anatomy lab dress code, and clinical rotations dress code
5) I hear a lot good things about this school. But are there any downsides you have that are just like your personal opinions? Like, is there anything you think we should be ready for?
Thank you so much for such a thorough response.1. What specifics were you looking to get? I don’t have the match document, but they did share it in a meeting and the match results were very good. Pretty much everyone matched.
2. No. But I’m a low-stress kind of guy. I study my allotted study time, get a good night’s sleep, and take my exams. I accept that I know a lot and that I also don’t know a lot. Some people certainly stress to the max, but that’s not me.
3. More than fair. Remediation policies are generous. Leadership is also very understanding of genuine life events. I’m not talking about wanting to take a week off during exams for your uncle’s best friend’s niece’s wedding, but when legit life events happen, they work with you and support you in getting back in the game.
4. There’s a “dress code.” It isn’t really enforced much, but the gist of it is don’t wear something inappropriate. I’m sure they have that defined, but dress is pretty casual as long as you don’t have a presentation or formal meeting, etc. I just wear scrubs to everything and wore scrubs to class, too.
5. There are definitely some downsides just as there are upsides. The downsides I’ve really noticed are: 1. Lack of resources. Everything is old and a lot of the equipment and stuff is pretty run down compared to other places I have been. 2. Classes for the first year don’t really match and standardized format like some other schools do, so the teaching doesn’t match up easily with third party resources. Exams for the first year all all written in-house. So, there are mistakes. There are questions with ambiguous or poor grammar. There are a number of tested concepts that are important to the institution locally but not to the nationwide standardized curriculum. This puts you at a bit of a disadvantage because you can’t rely on third party resources to give you the info you need for exams even though those resources better prepare you for Step. However, I used the third party resources almost exclusively, and while that cost me tons of points on in-house exams, it made passing Step a breeze.
Of course there are tons of positives and upsides, too! Oh! One of the biggest downsides is actually the cost of living in the area. It is definitely something that should be considered and worked out ahead of time. If you get in, bank some money ahead of time for two month’s rent each semester because we start earlier than the undergrads, but financial aid seems to pay on the undergrad schedule (probably not perfectly aligned, but you get the gist). So, it’s not uncommon to have to pay for two months of everything on your own each semester.
Also, good luck! I like it enough that I plan to apply for residency here, too!
Same A a few days again we interviewed the same dayA earlier today! Interviewed 11/22 🙂
Just got the same email and was like “okay?! Where’s the II or R?”.I got the "AMCAS Application Reviewed" slightly over a month ago and still received no II/Pre-II R. Is this normal?
Happy Holidays everyone 🙂 for those that received the email regarding financial aid/scholarships has anyone tried filling out the HSFAA form? It's giving me a bunch of errors when i try filling it out.

Like you cannot put different incomes for each parent. Any time you change the income in the box for parent 1, it duplicates the same value in the income box for parent 2 and vice versa. I only have one parent's income to report so this is an issue I will have to e-mail their office for before I can fill it out.
Thank you for letting me know! 😊New link sent!
In the updated link the income issue wasn't happening but when I signed the e-doc my one parent's income duplicated 😭 i just clarified that i am only reporting one in the body of the email and the additional information box lol 🥲I'm having issues with it as well.

Edit: Ok so even with the new link they sent this didn't stop. But I suspected it could be related to my internet browser, so I switched from Firefox to Chrome and it worked!

Wow that's crazy... I thought changing browsers fixed it, but I just double checked my submission and it shows the duplicated number on the final submission 🙄Sameeeee. I sent it back and wrote in the email what happened
Bumping this, anyone submit early-mid Sept, and/or get the "application reviewed" email around the same time, and hear back about a II? I have just had silence 🙁 It is starting to get to me... signed up for January's First Friday.Hoping for an II, Howard is my number #1 choice. Received the application reviewed email on 10/11, complete 09/12 but silence since then.
Anyone who got the reviewed email in mid-October heard back about IIs?
they are behind on sending IIsBumping this, anyone submit early-mid Sept, and/or get the "application reviewed" email around the same time, and hear back about a II? I have just had silence 🙁 It is starting to get to me... signed up for January's First Friday.
Med school is totally closed right now for the holiday break. I think they’ll open back up around Jan 3rd or so. Between now and then, I wouldn’t expect any movement.Bumping this, anyone submit early-mid Sept, and/or get the "application reviewed" email around the same time, and hear back about a II? So what happens to the people like me who got the review email in October?Just got the email for their winter break. They will be closed from 12/16/22 until 01/03/23. Review of applications received from 11/22 to 01/23 may have an additional 4 weeks delay for review.
I guess I see you guys next year!
Sit back and wait with us November-January peeps. 🙃So what happens to the people like me who got the review email in October?
i feel like it can’t hurt if you really want to go to this school (keep in mind though that there will be a delay in them reviewing your app per the Winter Break email HUCM sent).Any point to submitting my secondary this late?? I thought I had finished Howard's but it turns out I didn't!
It’s corny but…Any point to submitting my secondary this late?? I thought I had finished Howard's but it turns out I didn't!

yess basicallyMeanwhile I got the Amcas reviewed email in late august and still waiting haha. Anyone on the same boat as me since august?
Dr. Aitcheson just replied asking to resubmit with a revised link...lol. I am pretty sure this is the same revised link they sent the second time. I'm just gonna let her know what i submitted was with the revised one bc this is ode tedious 😭.Wow that's crazy... I e-mailed them prior to getting the new link and submitting, so I hopefully I dont need to email them again. Hopefully the financial aid office will address this on Monday.
