it's possible that your interviewer just didn't submit the report on time for the first meeting so you'll be reviewed/scored at the next meeting! you could reach out and see but the hub app says next meeting is nov 16

Does anyone know when they typically stop scoring people? I was complete in early July and have not been scored yet. Just want to know if I should just give up hope at this point lol
I would also love to know this lol

im confused how the interviews work, will they just email me which date they chose for me?

You will see something like this in a message:
#397
Look for the words either "based on their evaluation score" of "based on their point total".

No it'll be on the portal
Mine just says "Your Application is currently under review by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine." Completed 7/27. This bad?

Not necessarily it just means you haven’t been scored yet

Yeah I was complete around the same time and I guess I haven’t been scored yet either. They’re also my alama mater and I’m pretty sure have a bias towards alumni (just based on how many people I know who got into Miller) and my stats are pretty high for them (LM 77) sooooo ****s wack lol
Also my alma mater and I also haven't been scored ugh

Was anyone else scored really quickly and if so how long did it take you to get an II afterward? I was scored within a week and I'm overthinking why I got fast-tracked through the scoring process but haven't gotten an II

How long ago were you scored? I was scored 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet, so also wondering this

I was looking at last year's thread and some people sat on the scored message for months before getting an interview. It could be a while!

I was scored about 10 days ago, but I got scored less than a week after submitting so I'm kind of wondering why they would score me that fast without a correspondingly quick II
Hopefully my app isn't way worse than it appears on the surface lol

crazy that they're so open about the fact that they don't even score all applicants, so much for holistic review. Feels like a waste of money to apply if we're not even going to have our apps read over tbh. and their secondary was an absolute beast like cmon bro don't be disrespecting us this much lmao

Allegedly I’ve been scored according to what this thread says but I’m so confused. Can you get an ii without being scored? How do they determine who does and does not get scored? Like is getting scored a “good” thing?

Look at it this way: (my numbers are completely fictional!)
They go through your application in detail and assign you a numerical score in several categories.
If a person has been scored and their score equals 25, and there are some others with 40, 50, 60 scores,
they will invite the higher scorers for interviews first and work their way down to lower scores.

TL/dr having a score doesn't mean you have a high score 🙁

The other thing to notice is they have 3 people review your file and rate you. (I'm referring to the chart in the post below this) As you can imagine, some readers will be prompt and others may take longer, and your application isn't "scored" until all 3 of them have turned in their report.

Idk if anyone has posted this here yet from past threads. It's probably outdated, but this is apparently what they used to use to score people.

I'm a reapplicant who didn't get scored last cycle (my "your app is under review" portal message finally turned green in February and stayed like that until my eventual R in April), so I'm just trying to remain hopeful that a scored message means that I've improved my app enough to get an II this time 🙁

My neuroticism/denial is kicking in to make me ask this question lol: did people get confirmation emails after completing their secondaries?

does anyone know if a letter of interest would help? submitted back in July, got scored shortly after but haven't heard back. I have updates from my scribe experience, i worked with a UM doc

I was complete like mid-July and my app still wasn't scored. LM 75 OOS and 3rd quartile Casper. Really strong extracurriculars but IDK I recently withdrew my application so now we'll never know if I would've been scored haha.

got excited that my portal finally changed, but it's just a slightly differently worded complete message written in a different color now lmao

can anyone who interviewed provide any feedback or tips? im so nervous for this one because i heard its really confrontational?

Haven't checked the portal for the last 2-3 days but I just got scored apparently. Will update if anything happens as a result of it

Interviewed 10/17. The interview feedback SDN site was quite accurate with questions to expect, so I'd read that over before your interview. I wouldn't say it was confrontational, both of mine were more so genuine conversations. I had a great time. One interviewer was more question after question, whereas the other interviewer did a better job of connecting the questions/ making the questions seem more natural in the flow of a conversation. Some ethical scenarios but nothing I felt I couldn't handle. Advice is to be genuine and true to yourself. Good luck!

Question for anyone that applied to MD/PhD, I meant to submit my application to be reviewed by both MD admissions and MD/PhD. My portal only says

"Your Application has been reviewed by the MD/PhD Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants who are shortlisted for an interview will be contacted via email to schedule an interview. Our interview dates are November 1st, December 13th and January 31st."

Does this mean I forgot to check a box that says I wanted my application to be reviewed by MD admissions? Or I just overthinking?

Thanks!

Depends on who you ask cuz everyone gets different interviewers, which is a major flaw imo, but my experiential interviewer was the most chill PhD I've ever met and talking to him reminded why UMiami is my top pick. Someone else from my interview group said something similar that their experiential interview was super chill but the behavioral felt like he was being grilled. But just use SDN for practice, know ur application well, emphasize ties to and your efforts to help underserved communities especially because Miami has so many.

Can someone please tell me what "We hope you enjoy your visit to our campus. Your final Admissions Committee decision will be available shortly. Contact the admissions office at 305-243-3234 or [email protected] if you do not receive a telephone call, an e-mail or a letter within seven days." means? I noticed this change/update today.

I’d assume it means what it says

Dr. Gervais had mention that my interview cohort would most likely hear back on or after 11/30, as she suspected that we would receive our final scores ahead of/in time for their 11/30 meeting. With the status change, I am thinking they are running ahead of schedule and may reach out to us 2 weeks earlier than expected (on 11/16/2022). I guess time will tell!

This is not an outdated score sheet. I attended a seminar about admissions at UM and this is almost identical (if not the same rubric that they showed us). I'll try to attach the one that they showed us.
