This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You’ll hear in 4-6 weeks. I called in dec and they said I would hear back at this meeting but I don’t think I will. I was wondering when the status would change! Very strange but im Just keeping my fingers crossed haha
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you too! Everything will work out one way or another, this committee meeting or the next 😊

Can you please your MCAT score and GPA? They sent you and email for the II? Thanks

Apologies if this has been asked before, but any success emailing the admissions office to get scored? Haven't heard anything besides confirmation my update letter was received and my portal still says "Your Application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their evaluation score from the Admissions Committee review. You will be contacted by email if you are selected for an interview. Interview invitations are extended between August and March."

That message means you’ve been scored

I agree with this. It seems like your message implies you have a score! For example, I dont think I have been scored because mine only says "Your Application is currently under review by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine."

I didnt get my alternate list email until 2 days after the adcom meeting. At this point it is likely that you would have heard by now if you had been accepted

How are people getting in touch with the admissions office via phone? I am never able to get through when calling. If someone got through easily what number did you use?
Thank you!!

I'm not sure your reasonings for wanting to call them, but I was able to access them via email to receive confirmation for my update letter! I also was having issues over the phone.

How long did it take to get your update letter confirmed?

Sent the update letter on 12/20. I tried to call for confirmation on multiple instances in January but could not connect. I ended up emailing their admissions office to confirm receipt on the morning of 1/9, and they responded to me that same afternoon.

Ok thank you! I wanted to call to get a status update because there has been no change to my application since June and also confirm receipt of an update letter. Will just email again.

Florida resident, went to UM for undergrad, and submitted my secondary by end of July, but still not scored. Anyone else in the same boat?

Been scored since October but no word. How late does this school send II? Florida resident, ties to school, 4.0/520+ but I did go OOS for undergrad. Very confused by my state schools.
Thanks, that makes the rest of us feel better about not being scored/interviewed. Just a crazy somewhat random process.

Someone posted their "rubric" earlier for scoring, and I think MCAT/science gpa made up only 90/300 points, meaning that just stats alone won't result in an interview (and are technically even lower than a 1/3 of total application points). Outside of academic performance, it's definitely hard to assign objective point values to other metrics, so I don't think anyone can predict getting an interview w/ Miami Miller. Also, I think Miami Miller openly states that they don't consider state residency for admissions. Just wanted to provide info that I know - good luck and hope you hear good news soon!

Has anyone received a merit scholarship yet? Wondering if these are released with acceptances or if they come later
I received one back in December about a month after acceptance! Was very surprised because in the formal acceptance letter it gave us a link to apply for scholarships/aid separately and I was putting off the app until I had more research-related updates in the spring.

How long is interview day? It seems it starts at 8am EST 👀

+1! also received scholarship notice this month (about a month after my A)

This is quite probably neurotic, but for those of you confirmed on the alternate list, did your status change in the portal from the message saying "your final Admissions Committee decision will be available shortly..."? I received email confirmation that I was added to the alternate list, but that's still my portal message.

Mine status showed this before I even got my alt list email and has stayed showing this being on the alt list for 2 months now

Ok cool thank you. I’m just paranoid bc I sent them an email to let them know I am registered for my last prereq required to matriculate the week before the committee met and they never responded. I hope they actually added that to my file prior to the committee meeting, but I’ll never know bc they didn’t confirm the receipt and dodged the question when I followed up on it for some reason.

What is the interview day like at this school? Is it traditional or all ethical? How many interviewers and how long? Thanks!

Two interviews: one "behavioral" and one "experiential" (basically traditional). Each one hour long with one interviewer. They should send you the schedule a day or two before the interview.

It somehow starts at 8 am and ends at 3:30 pm (according to the email). How much dead space is there in between interviews and activities?

What is behavioral? Is that like ethic situations?

Congrats on the II! One interview will be traditional, open file interview. The other was partially open (blind to scores i think) and there were more ethical scenario questions but still 1 on 1, so it was conversational and wasn't always strictly ethical questions. Both were very relaxed and gives you plenty of time to talk about yourself and your experiences 🙂

You'll get some time in between for sure. I think between the activities and interviews, I had 2.5-3 hours in between and they let you log off so I went to eat breakfast, lunch, etc.. You'll get an itinerary the day before and it'll tell you your schedule

Ok thanks i didnt know about them not considering in state. I do have 6 t20 interviews and 2 t30, so I don't think the rest of my app is bad, but maybe just not what miami is looking for.
They give equal interviews to in state and out of state BUT theres like a third as many in state applicants as out of state so I think like 10% of in state applicants get interviews versus 3-4% of out of state applicants. They dont consider in state vs out of state but realistically there is a better chance of being admitted if you're in state.
