2022-2023 Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For folks who got the interview invite or have already interviewed, is it a all day process? Do they assign a specific time of the day or can you choose the time slot?
You will attend a mandatory orientation session before your interview. It lasts about 2-3 hours. They go over everything! You mostly listen and ask questions about the program if you have any. The actual interview is separate and lasts about 40 minutes. You will know in advance who your interviewer is.

Does anyone know if RowanSOM accepts writing intensive courses not within the English department for their English requirement? I placed out of the writing course at my undergrad so don't have that class taken, but our curriculum has built-in writing intensive courses for every major. Haven't received a response from them about it

Email admissions. Call if you haven’t heard back (it’s a very busy time for them!). They seem to be flexible with categorizing pre reqs! If anything, med schools may ask for a course syllabus to make sure it does fall into a specific category

Is there an accepted students facebook group? would love to meet some of u guys!!

Those who were contacted by admissions asking for a campus preference… any updates? Did you receive acceptances, or still waiting, or otherwise?

posted here some time ago about receiving an II, but withdrawing from it. hopefully the open spot can go to one of you guys. Good luck to you guys

The PBL session was def informative! and I couldn`t help notice the person in charge shifting through our AACOMAS applications during the session lol

Hopefully some of us hear back today! Not 100% sure today’s the day, but if it is, good luck to everyone 🙂

Just got the phone call personally from my interviewer.. A! So so grateful for this amazing opportunity, and so excited for everyone else on this path. I wish the best of luck to everyone. For those waiting, be patient! It’s so worth it. I believe in each and every one of you 🙂

I just got the call from my interviewer. A! She said official acceptance correspondence would be issued soon. However, she wasn't sure if it'd be through postal mail or email. For those who have already been accepted, which one did you receive?

I received the official email with the acceptance letter and info packet within 1-2 hours after my interviewer called

OMS-1 here! Lmk if you guys have any questions 🙂
Hi, I encouraged a friend of mine to apply to RowanSOM since I had such a pleasant time during my interview, and I am really excited to join the class of 2023. However, they feel discouraged about applying to DO schools because of misinformation online about the OMM lab dress code and policies. They have had surgeries in the past and feel uncomfortable removing their top in front of others and exposing their surgical scars. I know there are some DO schools that accommodate students for a variety of reasons. I couldn't find any specific information about RowanSOM online, would you mind expanding a bit on the OMM dress code? I'd appreciate it.

Is it me or are they revisiting applicants that they have initially skipped? Those who are getting interviews are not getting them chronologically based on completion date, I think someone with a September completion date got an II then a July completion date. Was it always random?
Also congratulations to all those who have received IIs and As

There is no strict dress code. They recommend wearing comfortable clothes like gym clothes or scrubs. We haven't had to remove our shirt at any point. Additionally, we did do HVLA for one class, and there were a few students who were uncomfortable or unable to perform the technique due to their past medical history, and they were exempt from that class. Rowan is very accommodating and respectful to all students' backgrounds, whether its medical, religious or anything else.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Interviewed yesterday, seemed to go very well. Will keep you guys updated with a timeline of when I hear back with a decision! Hopefully sooner rather than later

Hi everyone! Secondary received yesterday afternoon - but just wondering, did anyone else that got their secondary yesterday not get interview dates yet? My secondary came with a message saying they will send me an email once more interview dates are chosen. Thanks! 🙂

Stats:
cGPA: 3.95
sGPA: 3.95
MCAT: 50X
Getting asked to complete the secondary isn't the same as getting invited to interview, so write your secondary essays thoughtfully and see how it turns out.

Thanks! I am aware of that, but the message said "...we are excited to inform you that our Admissions Committee has identified you as an applicant to interview! Our Admissions Committee Members are in the process of identifying interview dates. Once these dates are confirmed, you will be notified via email with instructions on how to log into our portal to schedule your interview". So just wondering if anyone else got the same message. 🙂

Also edit: I was complete 7/18, so already got the initial secondary filled out etc. Just noting this if it is helpful for anyone else's timeline.

Looks like that's an interview invite, not a secondary. Congratulations!

Thanks so much! So I guess this is my next question - I am confused why people write they got secondary's, but then say they got an interview invite (for many schools not just this one)? I have been confused by this for months so that is why I phrased my initial question that way LOL. For example, someone will say "I submitted my primary 6/5, did my secondary and was complete 7/18, got my secondary 10/12, and scheduled an interview for 10/25". It made me think there was a "second" secondary. But I will just stop thinking too much into it... 🙂

You're probably thinking of II, which many people think means secondary but actually stands for interview invite.

OMG!! Wow, I feel like my entire life is a lie. I definitely have thought this all the way back since I applied the first time my senior year of college... Thank you SO MUCH! 🙂 🙂
