For those who have already interviewed, is there anything I should know before going into the information session this Monday? just want to be mentally prepared. Also, I received a notebook with their logo on it in the mail yesterday, thought it was very nice of them

fr? dang I didn't get a notebook 😳 But the information session was pretty chill. I don't think you would need to prepare anything

its probs on its way to you

for LOI when would be a good time to send, I have my II with them this week and this is my top choice for the cycle

intent, probs will send a week or so after the interview. Congrats on the insane cycle btw, see you on most of these threads with helpful info
Thank you. Keep in mind you go to committee and get scored about a week after your interview. So, if you're trying to get the most bang for your buck, I would send within four to five days just to make sure it gets in before they meet.

Does anyone know if the admissions committee is blinded to our non-most meaningful activities and GPA and MCAT when they vote? I know the interviewers were blinded to lots of things, including those elements, and one of my interviewers made some comments that suggested he made various assumptions about me that were wildly inaccurate. For instance, he insinuated I have a low GPA and MCAT (I don't). I'm kind of hoping he gets to read my full file (at least all my activities) before voting so that my application can be seen in context.
Probably got a lil stress test buddy I'm sure you did well and I would be so shocked if any admissions committee in the country was voting on your final admissions decision without taking everything into account, including your metrics

I believe they have access to GPA and MCAT after the interview is over

Did you get a stress test too

Did you get a stress test too
Not really. But it can take different shapes and forms. One of my interviewers seemed to be in a bit of a hurry and asked questions really fast, wanting me to answer fast. It felt like the interview was rushed but it actually took the whole 30 min. That could have been a form of stress test, who knows

Thoughts after finishing interview week:

Information session - nothing crazy, there’s some ice breakers and you learn about the school a lot here.

Faculty Interview - Felt like a conversation, went really smoothly in my opinion and was stress free. I thought he would be tough on me because of his specialty ngl, but I was very wrong fortunately and was very confident afterwards.

Student interview - Felt more like an interview and the style caught me a little off guard since every prior interview experience had been conversational (this was more like alternating between question and answers). I got really nervous and stumbled/felt disorganized even though they seemed like fairly standard questions (though a bit wordy in how they were presented). Feel like I fumbled the bag all the way at the end with this interview and overall unhappy with how it went for me.

I also don’t think they have “stress tests” based off my experiences, it could just be other interviewees getting unlucky

Does mayo send out rejections or usually just ghost people? I was complete 7/27 and didn’t get an II. I’m just trying to gauge whether I should consider it as a soft R

there have been plenty of Rs posted already. I’m in same boat as you with an early august app and am not very hopeful of a II

Hi friends! Any lower stat applicants that submitted in July get rejected from Mayo yet? MCAT 512 or lower specifically.

Just had my faculty interview today and I guess it was bad because my interviewer gave me tips and areas to improve for my student interview. Has anyone else experienced this? 🙁

Or...they liked you so much and wanted the student to love you too so they have a few tips because literally none of us are going to be perfect and there's always ways to improve

Are they pretty close to being done interviewing here? Really hoping for one as it’s my top school but have heard literally nothing so far complete end of July

Same! Haven’t heard back and I completed mid July

Highly doubt they are done interviewing as they interview like 750 ppl according to MSAR. It seems this cycle every thing is pushed back a little bit to me as well

Mayo loves its letter of interest/Intent: if it is a top 3 choice for you send a LO interest and if it is your top choice send a LO of intent
When would it be ideal to send a letter of interest/intent

On the website though, it says they only accept significant update letters post interview? Would it be bad if I sent one now -- it doesn't explicitly discourage against?

I sent a pre interview letter of interest and got a interview (causation vs correlation so not definitive) but I say if you can weave a letter of interest with an update letter, then it cant hurt.
