I sent a pre interview letter of interest and got a interview (causation vs correlation so not definitive) but I say if you can weave a letter of interest with an update letter, then it cant hurt.

Imagine getting the notebook and then being rejected post-interview though. Then you just have this awesome notebook to constantly remind you of what could have been…

In last year’s thread, some people said they received an email from their interviewer (or someone else involved in admissions) saying that they were “highly ranked” by the admissions team and to send in a letter of interest (or intent) to let the school know their interest level
