2024-2025 East Virginia (EVMS)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is anyone still waiting to hear? I haven't heard squat since my 2° (complete 10/3) and I'm starting to worry. I'm an in-state applicant.
Could be worth sending an update letter. It was silence for me and then I got an IS II 2 days after submitting a letter last month

Actually, good idea. Possibly dumb question: how do I do that?
There’s plenty of templates online that can help you write one! I basically just gave them the rundown on my activities since applying with a small paragraph at the end about why EVMS and why I think I’d be a good fit.
You should also be able to send it to this email: [email protected]

Thanks! I'll consider sending one to some other schools too. If I remember right, some don't accept them so I'll do my research.

What's the dress code for the Wednesday information sessions? Or is it informal?
I don't think there's a dress code, but during mine everyone was wearing something formal (a nice dress / collared shirt if not a suit and tie)

Hey everyone! How long after interviews are people typically hearing back?
Their website says about 4 weeks but it seems like it's taking more like 6 for some people

Great, thanks! Wanted to make sure since some student info sessions are very laid-back.

Interviewed here late January and absolutely love this school. I am IS and hoping I didn't interview just for the waitlist LOL
EDIT: does anyone know if they outright reject / accept applicants interviewing at this point?

Anyone know if there’s still hope for OOS applicants? Submitted late July, LM 72 with rec letter from a current student. I love this school!

Can anyone who is IS and accepted message me their stats ?

OOS interview invite today. Submitted secondaries on August 15.
How should I approach prepping for interview? Any tips appreciated! Also anyone down for a mock interview?

For those accepted, how did you feel about your interview? Did you feel it went really well, or was it more of a no clue how I did?

I feel like the whole med school app process is a big mystery. I had the whole spectrum of feelings after interviews- one I thought I did well on...WL...one I thought I flubbed...A 3 weeks later...etc. You truly just never know and all you can do is be yourself and be confident!! But for this school, I did feel like it went quite well and I really vibed with my interviewers. I sweated it out though about 2ish or so months to get my A, so I thought for a while there maybe it didn't go well 🤣

All this to say...go and enjoy the time you get to show how awesome of a future doctor you will be and what is meant to be will be. Good luck!

How long after an update letter is it acceptable to send a letter of continued interest or send an email asking for a status update to see if theres even a shot id get an II?

is EVMS still sending out II’s?? i’m OOS and would love to go here 🙁
Same, haven’t received an II which makes me v sad bc I really like this school! I feel like EVMS aligns with my goals and mission so I was really hoping for an interview. Still gonna keep my fingers crossed for everyone! 🤞🏽

To those who have interviewed, how did you go about sending thank you notes? Did y’all send the admissions email a pdf of the thank you note? And did you address it to all 3 (or 2) of your interviewers or did you do an individual thank you note to each one (so 3 pdfs attached total)? Thanks in advance for any help! 🙂

I sent an email to the admissions committee with one pdf attached (of the letter). The letter was addressed to all of my interviewers, the adcom, and those involved with the rest of the optional info session.

For those who have already interviewed, what time does the interview welcome session start, including the welcome from admissions and students? My interview is in the afternoon, so I was wondering if it will be a full-day event.

The student presentation starts at 12:25pm Eastern and goes until about 1:00pm depending on the number of questions. The afternoon interviews start at 2:00pm at the earliest.

congrats! may i ask when you interviewed ? i got waitlisted (top tier) in January and I’m not entirely sure when to expect any other update decisions from them
think you quoted the wrong person, I got invited to interview not accepted

Has anyone received a call from admissions prior to receiving an interview? I missed it today as I was at work and wondering what it means!

I just received my OOS interview invite. I am super excited and shocked that I am still in the game; it seems these are the last II to be sent for the last three interview days being scheduled in March.
congrats! when did you submit secondary?

Hi! I was wondering if there are any current students here that I could ask a few questions about EVMS, would be a huge help. Thanks!

So what is the SP in the information session about? Do we all practice or will people volunteer to talk with them? Is it beneficial to do so and will you be penalized for not volunteering?
