Columbia and Cornell both have higher medians according to MSAR, however the unofficial word from advisors and current students is that NYU is very number oriented, and it is a very small filter to get through initially after which the rest of the application becomes important. Unlike say, AECOM which has similar numbers but one weakness won't kill you if you have other very strong competitive areas of your application. I don't have MSAR on me atm but the best way to confirm this unofficial word I've heard from my advisor and other current students is to see the range of NYU's stats. I'm pretty sure though Columbia has a high median, it is a broader range, while NYU with a slightly lower median has a very strict range.
edit: Cornell oddly enough has more competitive numbers according to MSAR even though US World News ranks them lower than Columbia. IMHO, both are ridiculously amazing schools and provide great opportunities and have great hospitals to work at (also the same hospital system, Columbia-Presbyterian). I'm not sure of Columbia's academic set up but I believe Cornell has PBL, which may be a significant difference or factor depending on your desires for your academic choice.
