Hi All,
I would love some help making a decision on my two acceptances. I will be paying out of state tuition at both of these institutions (NJ resident).
SUNY Buffalo:
Pros:
Established institution, with strong placement for residents in a wide range of specialties in the New York area
Opportunity for in-state tuition with a change of residency? (is this true?)
Got the impression that the Dean is very invested in the students, collaborative atmosphere, etc.
Cons:
Facilities are outdated, new medical school will not be available to my class
Buffalo is isolated and very cold (this is not a major con)
TCMC:
Pros:
Brand new facilities
Selected for a research fellowship and peer to peer mentoring throughout my 4 years
Closer to home
Cons:
New program, has had financial instability in the past. I am worried why TCMC has not been able to get the support of the University of Scranton or East Stroudsburg.
Residents placed well, but no one seemed to hold a competitive specialty
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
