So our status on the portal should have changed already if we were expecting a call, right? Mine still just says complete :-/
I was accepted to TCOM through the early decision program! Notified Friday 🙂 So happy!

I know TCOM is one of the top osteopathic schools in the nation, if not the top. For current TCOM students, would you say there are any compeititive specialties that are completely off limits to DO students at TCOM. I know dermatology, radiology, and opthamology are particularly hard to match into for any MD or DO school. Would you say it's possible to match into one of these fields coming from TCOM if you work hard, ace the boards, and do research (not including military residencies)?Apparently it seems that it is very difficult to make time for research at TCOM, so does that make it very unlikely to be able to pursue one of these fields?

How long from turning in your secondary did you get your portal log in? I still haven't got mine. Please help.
(our admission lecturer said he also likes to watch SDN around match and pre-match season!)
Hah, I just imagined your avatar saying, "I am a nice guy." It made me laugh out loud.Well Mr Admission Lecturer, if you read this, please know that I like you, and I would like you even more if you invited me for an interview! You know, I am a nice guy...😀
does TCOM call to your cell phone or home phone number for the interview?? Just want to make sure...

Better for us who know what up with TCOM.
Are you in Texas? It's pretty baffling. Pretty much everyone I talk to at my school (minus one who just started there this year) didn't apply to TCOM, and I don't understand it at all. I'd love to go to TCOM! My letters packet finally got uploaded this week and I'm crossing my fingers for a call from Caroline in the next few weeks.
when were you complete? Thanks!Received interview invite this morning for 10/5.
I'd say I have very average stats with above average ECs.
3.45 sciGPA, 3.65 overallGPA, 28R MCAT, currently enrolled in a master's program for sports medicine

I don't know anyone that applied to TCOM either but I'm also OOS. They see the 90% required in-state acceptance and don't even bother. Plus having to do two common applications really deters OOS people too. I decided to apply anyways because I loved the school enough to put in the extra effort and take the chance. Lucky for me it paid off with in interview!
I hope you get a call from Caroline soon! The school is awesome and Caroline is awesome too.
I keep hearing great things about her, and I got a little bit of that when she emailed me this past week to let me know they didn't have my letters. No other school did that, that ups my desire to go even more.
And yup I'm in Texas. My school made up for 7 of this years TCOM class lol. I'm sure you'll own the interview!
It's working fine for me. And thanks for the kind words! My interview was last month on 8/24. All I have to do now is wait until October 15th. UGH. That's almost 2 months of waiting. It's like torture.is anyone else having trouble getting on the student portal page?? is it down?
In my opinion, if someone really wants to practice medicine they shouldn't care whether they have an MD or a DO at the end of their name. It's pretty baffling. BTW, I love mango shakes.

May I ask why you say October 15th? Did you apply ED or something? Or is there something I'm completely missing when it comes to dates for TCOM?
About military experience: There was an Iraq vet (medic) in our group. He said TCOM loves military - the president of TCOM was a USMC officer, and his predecessor was a prominent Army doctor (his bio here).
P.S. My interview went well, and I absolutely love the campus and the people I met. Good luck to everyone! 🙂
im curious too

Non-Texas residents, MD/PhD, DO/PhD, MD/MBA and Assured Acceptance Program applicants are NOT included in the match process. Medical schools may begin extending offers of acceptance to these applicants beginning October 15

Just found out TCOM will be contacting me for an interview. I'm stoked!!!
My stats are 29 MCAT, 3.7 GPA, UT engineering major, no DO letter. I work in a biomedical field, dealing with automation and genetics, but I really prefer people. I thought I had a good chance and I applied very early, but nothing - nothing - happened until today! It was frustrating to say the least.
I'm going over the old posts to prepare. These threads are full of little gems... Thanks, guys.
And Good Luck!! It's only September, don't give up yet.
Yeah, I bet the websites are updated after the first week of classes and USNWR receive stats prior to that date, missing some of the last-minute WL movement.I wonder where the disconnect occurs. This isn't the only school to have different stats on their website than what they reported to USNWR. - Perhaps the websites are more up-to-date.
